BOGOTA, Colombia, Feb 24 - A Colombian man has been sentenced to four years' house arrest for slapping a woman's bottom as he rode by her on his bicycle, sparking debate on whether the punishment fit the crime.

Showing re-enactments of the incident, television news shows were filled on Friday with legal experts offering opinions about the judgment handed down earlier in the week by Bogota's district court.

Some said that to confine bicycle messenger Victor Garcia to his home for four years for smacking Diana Marcela Diaz's buttocks was excessive. Others said it would deter other men.

One program showed three models having their denim clad bottoms smacked so hard by a phantom hand it could be clearly heard by television viewers.

The women said that while the punishment seemed extreme, they hoped the case would mean they would be safer while on foot.

"It happened to me once," one of the models said. "I was walking very relaxed and a guy rode by on his bicycle and, 'ta!' He smacked me. I took off my shoe to hit him with it but he was already too far away."

BWAHAHAHHA wow talk about extreme. For years for slappin some booty :duh:

It's a good deterrent. And a much needed one.

(no, it wasn't me, the guy slapped my little sister. I ran up and kneed him.)

Wow, I never knew ride by ass slapping was such a global epidemic. I may have to start practicing...

If this punishment fit the crime, I could have dealt out a combined sentence of 20 years of house arrest to 5 different girls in the past 4 months alone. >_>

Yao, isn't that kind of harsh?

If the punishment fit the crime, I know girls who'd never be allowed to leave their house again. :(

What would the punishment for riding by and throwing used condoms at people be?

Jay

Twenty years in a clown suit! As we hear the pounding of a gavel...

You may not think that's bad, but the clown suit is blown up full of hot air so you can't walk properly, and the face paint is really sticky and flakey, and you have to re-apply it every... single... day.

Yao, isn't that kind of harsh?

Women generally don't like having their personal space invaded by complete strangers. And People tend to get alittle pissed when someone takes such a liberty with their sister, so I think Yao was well within her rights to knee the sucker in the beanbag.

Wow, four years house arrest......jesus christ that excessive. I think one year would have been good enough imho.

While I agree that sexual harrasment should have punishments, four years? Geeze I don't know...I wonder how strongly they punish rape? :watson:

If she says 'yes' it ain't rape.

On the topic, I guess they're trying to set a harsh precedent, and I am completely against sexual harassment, but that is pretty excessive.

Nor do I like to have my personal space invaded by complete strangers. But would it be justified if a hypothetical brother ran after one of the girls that have pinched my arse and, say, broke her nose?

Am I the only one that started thinking about "a more Humane Mikado?"

I wonder if anything like that happens over here in the US, or are people to afraid of sexual harassment suits/don't ride bikes?

No, stupid. Everything women do is right, everything men do is wrong

No.

No one in Yao's situation got anything broken or needed to seek medical attention.

What do you Yao should've done?

You obviously have no idea how much being kneed in the balls hurts

Although I can only be empathetic, I am quite aware how much it hurts, but it's not equvilent to the breaking of bone.

perhaps your should look up empathetic in the dictionary.

Perhaps you should. If you think being kneed in the balls isn't as bad as a broken bone then you are anything but empathetic

You aren't smart enough to patronise anyone, so don't

I can only assume Roxie is a girl, here. Love, a direct hit, hard hit in the nuts has got to be one of the most painful experiences in the world. Many a kickboxing match has left the toughest fighters on the ground, crying, in horrible pain, and vomitting into buckets from the blow to their man-berries.

But if you're only slightly kneed, tapped, slapped in the nuts, whatever.. it wouldn't be as bad as breaking a bone, no, despite the outright agony at the start and the small painful twinges shooting through for the next hour or two.

</totally off topic>

Yes, I have seen how painfull it can be. Adam, a hs buddy of mine was subjected to a full-force kicked soccer ball to his "man-berries" and was down for 15 minutes. Despite me and my friend Erica's 15 min laughter, we did both really understood how much that must hurt. I'd say it's akin to being punched in the breast. Which really fucking hurts, btw.

So, although I cannot be sympathetic, I am empathetic. But I would still say it's not worse than breaking the bone. Not just accounting pain as a factor, but the medical attention required, and the healing process. I'd rather be punched in the breast on a period day.

we're both at least part manchurian, but i follow my mother's family (southern chinese) when it comes to height. My dad's family is tall.

My cousin Eric (6'5") once tossed a guy into a trash can in retaliation for hte guy "accidentally" walking into his sister's (6') rather generous chest

Wear a mask and only assail solo girls.

Heh, I never got that thing about manchurians being tall, is it true at all? My girlfriend's slightly racist grandfather who was in the korean war claimed that I had to be manchurian because I'm somewhat tall.

Biologists have found that the different ethnic groups of Chinese are are extremely different from each other, and that you can tell, via DNA's various genetic markers, who's what.

Manchurians, as far as most ppl say (and I have seen), have massive torsos, broad shoulders and face, big hands and long arms, and sometimes short legs (in proportion to the rest of their bodies).

All the people in my father's family (save my sister and I), follow the manchurian body plan. I have a ten year old cousin (gal), who's about 5'7" already, and still growing. Most people won't reach the heights of yao ming (7'6"), but my tallest cousins are 6'11" and 6'9". Most of my relatives tend to range from 5'7" to 6'3" though.

see now, thats why I moved to Japan and not China. Here, I am, at 5'7", am as tall or taller than most men, and am certainly taller than all the ladies. Most people move to Japan for culture, or travel. Me I came so I wouldn't be short anymore! (and then I go and hang out with canadians who are all 6'3" *$&)

Or Japan. I am having a hard time picturing lawmakers doing anything about a ride-by ass slapping.

::Japanese Courtroom::

Judge: Okay, what are we here for today?
Prosecutor: My client was slapped in the buttocks by this guy while he was riding his bike.
This Guy: Heh. Yup.
Judge: .......um.....congratulations? Again, what are we here for today?

Southerners are much (much much much) shorter. Take me, I'm only 5'4". And that's already considered 'tall', esp for a 17 yr old gal

Heh, I was one of those girls. Having an ample feminine endowment makes for a soft and pillowy cushion that makes the ball just stop in its tracks if you know how to catch it right. :D

And I agree wholeheartedly that it's not as painful as a man getting smashed in the man-berries. It hurts like a bitch if you get hit in the boobs the wrong way, but I've never seen anyone bleed out of their nipples just for getting hit there with a baseball or equivalent. But my friend who got nailed in the balls by a baseball in high school was pissing blood for three days. And couldn't walk for about half that amount of time.
I felt glad I was not a man.

Eh, I assumed since you didn't use ^^ or ^_^ or pink text, or mentioned your breasts, as the above people that you're not female. I guess thats a bad way to go about things, its kinda like "male until proven female"
Oh yea, that and you kneed that guy. Psh, chinese girls aren't violent past the point of a hard kick in the shins >_< at least in my experience.

And please, talk more about breasts, rather than balls.
