Over the last year I have found Outpost nine to be a great place to spend odd hours at work making myself look busy when in all actuality I am playing on a forum. Well the gods that are the sys admins apparently finally realized that this hole in their security existed because it isn't there anymore. I can still read Az's stories but the forum is blocked. Now this does not block me from viewing at home, it is just that I tend to do less at home than I do at work.

It could be worse. You could have a horrible job that doesn't allow you to browse the internet at all while you work.

The hope being of course that a half way decent sys admin would have them blocked off as well.
*is a sysadmin, rules with an iron fist, fear our linux routers and traffic monitoring! Forget blocking sites, just use GPO to set every machine to only visit sites on an allow list, if isn't on the list, no webpage for you!*

Trust me, I have tried every possible action to bypass the security in ways that won't get me fired. Browsers within browsers, proxies, I've tried them all. About the only thing I haven't tried is to setup my computer as a host that I could log into from work, but I think that would be viewed as bad.

I came across the same problem at my work some time ago, when they started filtering meta tags and took other security measures. No more gaming sites for me :(
So, I bought a laptop and connect to the student network wirelessly (I work in a university). Funny how the students have no restrictions on what they can view :D

Its has more to deal with the route of the link
example my school blocks gmail. gmail.com was blocked. however mail.google.com wasn't. When it was, i used my jump drive firefox portable and gmail manager extenstion. now my email is available at school.
IN YOUR FUCKING FACE BESS!

Go to: www.anonymouse.org
Similar to proxy...this should work well for a forum.
