QINGDAO, China - Think your cat is chubby? One Chinese family shares their home with a 33-pound feline. Slideshow: See China's Chubby Kitty

His owners say that despite his 31-inch girth, the 9-year-old fat cat is actually in good health.

However, he does need help getting around.

The cat's owner helps him climb into bed and even wraps the cat in his very own blanket and pillow.

Veterinarians warn that obese animals are susceptible to a range of illnesses, including kidney trouble and diabetes.
Oh, oh I'm in love. :innocent: That's the most disturbing and cute thing ever.:knockout:
It deserves it's own anime. :kitty:

The owners accomplished this horrible feat by feeding the beast pork and chicken, every day.

On another note, it reminds me of this video: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/kittycat.php

Cat food comes from the supermarket, back when I was in china, there were no supermarkets. I don't actually know what we fed our cat, I think he just hunted for himself. All the cats I had were not reallly "domestic" at all. Nothing done to claws, teeth, no shots, no registration, nothing. I've never seen my grandparents feed it anything, except leave a bowl of water out.

My cat was declawed, just for the sake of me and my brothers when we were young.

Cats don't mind, and it's not like it really maters at all (unless it is an outdoor cat).

Anyway, poor thing. That's just cruel.

In my house we have a habit of our cats being indoor and outdoor. They just hunt for fun, cant do that with no claws!

I'd rather kill and eat you, than that cat.

I'm not too sure about. That sure garfield may not be as big but can that cat in the picture eat as much.

Doing that to your own pet is incredibly cruel. Feeding it pork and chicken every day is NOT keeping the poor thing healthy. It's like feeding your kid enough food every day to make them very obese. It's not cute. It's sick.

Also, I consider someone declawing ther cat, or anything related to that (such as someone debarking their dog) cruel. If your worried about your cat around some children in the house, then either keep the cat away from the kids or just prolong getting a cat.

No, I don't like PETA.

Well, they say the cat is healthy. If it wasn't, then I'd be disgusted.

Ah, I see what you mean then.

My cat was a stray, and we saved it, and turned it into an indoor cat. Due to my siblings and I being young at the time, to avoid nasty encounters, being de-clawed as needed.

I don't really understand how being declawed is cruel (if your cat is outdoor and indoor, then I would), but for an indoor cat why? If you think that's cruel, what about being spayed or neutered?

Garfield comes to mind, and lesser version, but bigger bully Heathcliff .-.

As for ripping out their fangs, that's funny, I like it when my cat gnaws on my hand, it's like "Awww he's a big vagina and I could crush him with that same hand"(when you have mechanic hands, it seems they become numb from pain, like oh look I'm bleeding again, meh...*goes back to work*) And as for the claw thing... grrr... H'ok, I "HAD" front covers on my floor speakers at one time, I even put scratching posts in front of the damn things..... all to no avail he still wanted to scratch at the speakers, his claws got removed after that... front and back... even more amusing with a lazer pointer when he's in the kitchen with the linoleum, slipNslide kitty into the wall*evil* yes I'm going to hell, but it's funny

I am most definitely for the spaying and neutering of pets. The reason it's not cruel is that doing this doesn't have much of a permanent effect on the animal aside from removing its libido and preventing it from reproducing. The animal will not feel permanently uncomfortable after being spayed or neutered. What is removed during spaying and neutering is not meant to be essential for everyday living.

Declawing, however, is a different story. Cats use their claws every day for things such as balancing and walking. They are digitigrade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digitigrade) animals. Declawing causes the feet of the cat to meet the ground at an "unnateral angle that can cause back pain" etc. Also, declawing does not just mean the removal of the cat's nails, but the whole phalanx (bones, ligaments, and tendons). Here's a graphic depiction:

The title of this thread totally caught me off guard.

You see, I used to have a rather fat (5 pounds overweight. A lot for a cat.) cat whose name was China. (I named it when I was seven, and didn't know China was even a country. I just asked my sister what a good name would be.)

So, the title of this thread sent me through memory land.

And I concur on feeling horrible about the declawing, now. Heck, both Baz and China were not only declawed, but my father kept them both locked up in one room in the entire house. Constantly. (Probably why China was overweight. She never had too much food. And yes, I complained constantly about my father's treatment of the cats, but you can't do much at that age.) Yet, he thought it was a crime to leave a dog inside a house instead of letting it run outside.

Animal favoritism is a horrible thing.
