The BBC isn't redundant. "Close scrutiny" is redundant. "Basic fundamentals" is redundant. "Free gift" is redundant. "Live audience" is redundant. "Protective helmet" is redundant. "Temporary reprieve" is redundant.
Need I go on? :D Or if you want more just ask! :P

So....being force fed to save their lives and health is "torture"?

It might sound like a act of generosity, but it violates a persons free will. Keeping them alive just so they can hold them forever... tantamount to torture in some peoples opinion.

As opposed to a dead audience? Meh, I'll wait and see if anyone else disagrees with you. :D

Bob, I am confused by your post. What are we debating? You think the BBC is redundant. That's a generalization at best, but ok - why? Personally I didn't see that article as being redundant. The introduction stated the "meat" of the issue (some dude says the prison should be closed, other dude says no way). Then they go into greater detail. It may be a different style of writing than you are used to, but I wouldn't necessarily call it redundant. I certainly wouldn't call the BBC itself redundant. I don't mean to pick on you and I hope you don't take it that way, but to me starting a thread with a link and the word "discuss" doesn't mean much. So I read the article- am I supposed to give a report on what I read? If you want to start a debate, tell us what you think and why. Otherwise it's a dead issue right away and nobody will care.

We let them stave to death and we are at fault for leting them starve. We dont let them starve to death and we are at fault for not leting them starve. Make up your mind please.
