I'm pretty new on the Cosplay scene, and I was wondering if anyone could help me find any reliable and overall nice sites that would sell and export these costumes; more specifically, the red mage costume.

I'd be grateful for any help.
Just don't hurt me for sounding lazy! I just don't know which sites are good for this type of stuff, hence the first line of the post.

Unless the site has changed recently those actually aren't live webcams just pre-recorded sessions. Which doesn't make it any less creepy though.

I don't cosplay, but I know a few people who do, and they're totally rational, not otaku, and hell, i'm geekier than them on some aspects.

And yes, there are good cosplayers. There are some people who look so much like the character it's nuts.

I find the whole thing a little creepy, but as long as people aren't nasty w/ it, they should be able to do what they want. That said, I'd rather see a cute Japanese girl doing cosplay than some of the people you see at American cons. (going off what I've seen on the web. Never been to one myself)

Sometimes I wonder if cosplaying was invented to give people nightmares. Then again maybe it isn't so bad. Come to think of it I thought I saw some cosplay costumes on ebay.... Do they do cosplay as anime characters much in Japan? I can't remember ever hearing or seeing anything about that but I've never really looked either. Most of the cosplay references I've seen there refer to a girl dressing up as a nurse, schoolgirl, Santa's Helper, etc. to have sex with a guy. Not sure if those people who dress up in gothy clothes and sit/stand outside Harajuku station count as cosplay either.

Hmmm, in my experience there wasn't a lot of cosplay in Japan really.
There was gothic lolita at Harajuku, but thats different IMO. It seemed more a 'lifestyle.
I went to a few toy/hobby/game/'otaku' shows there and the only people cosplaying were either paid models at booths or... something different.
The other ones, like those girls posted above, seemed more than anything, want to be models. They cosplayed up and then mostly hung around a certain area all day while people queued up to take photos of them posing. If the photographer looked like a pro photographer, the girl would give them her card and show her portfolio.

None of it seemed like cosplay for fun or fandom.

BTW, the Gai costume is off da hook! I've always hated the fact that Gai/Lee wear their forehead protectors around their waists though; they're in unitards! Isn't that just one more obstacle to overcome when going to the potty?!

:D Fine by me. I like my men/women curvy. It's probably why Asian body types don't appeal to me - long torsos, short legs, no curves.

The body proportion thing doesn't bother most *sane* people but I spend a reasonable amount of time in ballet class and even more time in front of mirrors (kung fu + other dance classes) so I know I have a different idea of what my "ideal" body type is.

I'm a total sucker for the thick, 50's style pinup girl body types. Birthing hips :drool:

You probably wouldn't like that actually. I've been around some professional ballerinas and they remind me of racehorses. Women that dance on an intermediate/high level recreationally are your best bet - tits AND ass! My bf says in my case, I have no reason not to be on top :p I guess ya' can't win 'em all.

A male ballet dancer lifts about 2 tons of ballerinas in the span of his career :eek: Plus they have more "balanced" body shapes IMO - Runners are too skinny and have a funny gait, baseball and football players tend to let the gut go occasionally, swimmers are shaped like giant triangles w/ no ass, cyclists are the opposite - all legs and not that much on top (watch "Triplettes of Belleville" for a cute parody of cyclists).

E-bay has a lot of good costume makers on there and most will take commission work. Prices ranged form $100-$500 for a costume.

I guess one funny thing I saw during Halloween, which IMO hinders unknowingly on cosplay, is a bunch of kids dressed as coloured tetris pieces. They were parading around the main street while the head guy carried around a radio playing the 3 tetris themes.

During HS, someone wanted me to accompany them to a cosplay convention and I told them that I didn't have time to make a costume (senior year, almost graduating and prom was in a few weeks) so they said I should go as a pika-bikini girl :eek: It hinges on furry and furries are creepy creepy people.

By the way, I don't mind many cosplayers... I think that if they enjoy it then they should have fun. I just hate it when they are so strongly addicted to cosplaying that they completely lose themselves "in-character". It gets... weird.

I'd say it's a pretty close race - Taki's bodysuit is practically liquid pvc (boobs don't look like that in spandex :rolleyes: ) but Chun Li has handles. Oh decisions, decisions.

Ah you're quite smart in the area of swords. :D I'm very happy. I agree, the foil sucks... sabre all the way. I like a little slashing AND thrusting action. Can't really say I am a fencer... no real true experience. I just use certain fundamentals of fencing in combat. I'm more learned in the arts associated with the katana.

And yeah, you sure can make your own character in SC3. Pretty nice editting features. I saw a character that looked like a pope. :D I hear there is some amount of depth to developing techniques, too.

... makes me thing, though. Anyone ever see males cosplaying as Soul Calibur characters? I might be oblivious to it, but I've never seen it.

Mine is totally the Bo Staff, it's like the thing I can wield best cuz it suits my weigiht, it's like big people use big weapons, I'm not fast enough to use chucks and Kamas are too short for me because I'm so big and easy to hit, but Katana's are ok, I've never fenced before, I like Chinese Broadswords though, I'm not great with them though. I just noticed I've tried alot of weapons considering I don't take martial arts!

I'm best with the katana I suppose. That and any other shorter blade, like the knife or wakizashi. Small blades work really well for me since I am rather small and swift due to my legs being able to push me around in different directions really well.

I stopped after I got ill, though, and haven't returned...and still have my katana at the corner of my room in it's case. I believe I left at shodan rank. I didn't test too much, unfortunatly.

My mum took my brother, my cousin, and I out to Japanese food afterwards but my mum doesn't know anything about it so we had to explain stuff to her. My bro and my cousin really like it though and they were game. Sukiyaki is overrated. I think it's mostly northern style that's taught at my school but I've only been there for a month. It's mostly drills and learning the 5 basic movements of Shaolin. I do dance mostly and I felt that I needed to work my muscles differently b/c I'm getting stiff. I think it was kinda funnny b/c the next to last part of class (last part is warmdown + bow) is when we work separately or in smaller groups on forms (weapons and non-weapon) and I asked him if I could do the 5 basic movements on the other side b/c I felt uneven. He kinda laughed and told me "you don't have to, you only get tested on one side."

The school I go to has 3 different branches so they rotate Sifus; it's kinda fun except that they haven't really codefied anything so they teach stuff differently sometimes. Also, many of them have limited English skills but they just show us what they want us to do.

Show her pictures of Man-Faye. If that guy could pull it off w/o shame, I'm sure she can do it. Plus there are PLENTY of cosplayers that have a horrible sense of fabric selection i.e. don't wear spandex if you're fat.

It's called being an ecto-mesomorph. It's a build that burns fast, but also loses muscle faster if not maintained. I've got a similar build. And the info I just posted was also made before the forums were revamped, so I'll just post this stuff up again:

If you work out and you're getting fatter then you obviously aren't eating right, are eating too much, or eat at inconsistent times, such as before sleep. To some people, though, eating an hour before sleep helps rest.
I'd suggest picking up a few good books on picking up good eating habits; otherwise your metabolism will screw up, and you only get bigger.

The old La Blue Girl isn't that great, especially w/ the dubbing but I love the new one, La Blue Girl Returns. It's technically classified as "ecchi" I think. Hentai doesn't have that fantasy world involved and it's more "real life." If you want kinky weird stuff, go for the Cool Devices series.
I actually liked the first one. It was a good change, since all the earlier ones i watched just tryed to make it too serious. But if the second ones better, ill have to get that one too :p Dont know, but i usually assosiate ecchi with the Sakura Diaries type of stuff.

1. You don't obsess, and believe you are the character. (Ala LORI.)
2. It's not your only hobby
3. You pick costumes that look nice on your body.
4. You've been sewing for a considerable amount of time, and you don't use gaudy materials.
