View Full Version : A question of foreign Television
I just flew in from Europe so forgive me if this makes little sense.
But to those of you who have either traveled/lived abroad or downloaded
some crazy shows on this interweb thing...
What do you think of the television?
I personally, was amazed by the things they would dub...
Germany was showing dubed episodes of Maurry
(daytime talk host guy/show)
Why in gods name would you need to dub that?
I saw a german show just like it... I don't think they need
to import ours.
Italian TV showed some crazy dubbed show about Jocks verses Nerds
and Tennis was in the mix some how.
French people don't seem to do this (but then again It's been a while since I was in France)
My Avatar is actually Bernd Bread from some crazy german Kids show we found.(actually I have a friend looking for DVDs of it he liked it that much)
but yes... thoughts on television in countries other than the one you are native to?

I hate it. It's boring and the gameshows are stupid.
But I guess that's because I'm not used to it. The 2 really foreign countries I've been to (Scotland, etc., doesn't count rofl) France and Mauritius, probably have ok TV, but I just happened to catch the worst of it.
That said, if I ever went to Japan I'd probably comb the TV Guide to see if there was anything worth watching for it's goodness or the sheer horror of it all.

German TV is atrocious end of story. Bully Parade was my favorite show, but after the success of Traumshiff Surprise in theaters last year, Bully and pals seem to have dropped TV in favor of Films. Everything else I found mildly amusing 5 years ago is either gone, or really dropped in quality.
On top of that the only english channels left to me is BBC Prime and CNN. We used to get Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies but Cablecom dropped them from service, the bastards.
Top that off with the fact that all the most popular shows are either rip offs of old american show, or crappy dubs of american shows (old and new). Awful I tell ya.

you know how much i hate german f****** TV? I live in Holland but we also receive some German channels. Sometimes I'll just be watching tv and notice something nice "A good they are showing the Matrix" or some nice show/movie. and then all of a sudden... they start speaking fuckin' german...
fuck you germany

I'm inclined to believe many of these peoples views of foreign TV. I made the mistake of downloading a show called Dirty Sanchez....... let me tell you, whoever decided this was a good idea for a tv show is seriously screwed in the head.

Ha, someone mentioning "Bernd das Brot" on this message board...awesome ^^
@Daishikaze
What about "TV-Total" , "Tramitz and friends" and a few other comedy shows ?
But honestly, except of german comedy shows I only watch the Simpsons and Scrubs on TV...shows made in Germany are...well, you better not watch them (only a few exceptions)
On a side note, I wasn't really fond of Bully Parade...the jokes were just too stupid sometimes .
Bully's films are great though !
But Austrian TV is one of the worst things ...there's only ONE big channel ( ORF,divided into ORF 1 and 2 ) ,which is quite good ( nice movies and shows ) ,but the rest is crap
Some "news"-shows are just a lame excuse to show nothing but some woman's breasts ...

Well, sometimes you'd really like to watch the news ( as in : to get information :D)
And ,of course, after so much articles about beautiful women it can happen that you grow tired of it and want to watch "real" news, if only for a short period of time ...^^
