Bobby Ologun faces charges for attacking boss
Celebrity Bobby Ologun faces an assault charge after allegedly attacking the president of his talent agency Wednesday following a disagreement over payment, police said.
Police are poised to send to prosecutors documents accusing Ologun, 39, of assaulting Kazuyuki Ito, the president of R&A Promotions, the talent agency to which Ologun belongs.
Ologun is also alleged to have become involved in a fight with John Muwete Muruaka, the former secretary of House of Representatives member Muneo Suzuki and also on the books at R&A, after Muruaka stepped in to drag Ologun off Ito.
Nobody was injured in the scuffle.
Ologun denied the allegations after briefly speaking to reporters in front of Harajuku Police Station in Shibuya-ku, where he had been questioned Wednesday afternoon.
"I'm sorry to have caused such trouble," Ologun said. "I didn't run wild and I didn't hit anybody."
Ologun then got into a car and drove away.
Ito, meanwhile, said that he had been embroiled with a disagreement over payment with Ologun.
Police said Ologun had gone wild in R&A's Shibuya-ku offices, grabbing Ito by the front of his shirt before fighting Muruaka as he tried to separate them.
Nigerian-born Ologun has become a household name in Japan, appearing mostly on TV shows. On New Year's Eve, he created a stir by defeating former Yokozuna Akebono in a bout of the mixed martial art combat sport called K-1. (Mainichi)
I hope his career is over. Unfortunately, it might push up the black-people-are-violent image a bit.

In order for that to happen, Bob Sapp would have to eat a baby. :box:

I caught a bit of this in passing on the news.
A solitary tear of joy fell down my cheek. First the pig-faced president of Livedoor, and now Bobby...God is being too kind to me.
It may not help the "blacks are violent" image...but fuck Bobby. Deport the bitch.

I thought that was Mike Tyson's domain.

I don't see how this can be good for the image of blacks at all. At least before he was seen as a nice doofus (despite his "celebrity" coming from K-I). Now, all blacks will be seen as violent, no matter how nice they appear to others

Yeah. And Bobby will most likely be back too. He was too popular not to. I'd like to thank all the black people who made it on the media...

^I doubt it (or at least, I hope so). Fads in Japan burn out hard. Bobby was already on the downswing - it looks like the sumo wrestler Kotoshu is taking his place. Although Kotoshu being white and Bulgarian doesn't exactly fix the damage Bobby did, I can respect him for not having to degrade himself to make the rounds on TV (not to mention kicking a lot of butt in Japan's mother sport).

Yeah. There's that.
It's a lose-lose situation either way. If he stays, he continues to perpetuate the bumbling black doofus image. At least this way, maybe he'll be forgotten a lot sooner.

A lot of the famous black celebrities that kids look up to in America aren't any better.

Maybe you are referring to the "gangsta" rappers, but there are plenty of black celebrities that are good role models; Bill Cosby, Will Smith etc.

Will Smith is one thing but how many kids do you hear saying they want to be like Bill Cosby or Morgan Freeman.

There are still plenty of others to choose from. Behaved sports stars, comedians, etc. There's still a choice.
Better than Bobby and Bob Sapp :bored:

Yeah...I don't think the world really needs more than one Billy Cosby anyway... That'd be akin to someone saying they really want to be like Robin Williams...

I wish I could be like Morgan freeman, he demands respect. I think times like this are when we should all play Hendrix, that was a real black man there.

What makes Hendrix a "real" black man? Was it the drug abuse? Or what about his excellent record with women [/sarcasm]? If it wasn't for his music, he would've been a perfect example of what was wrong with black culture at the time.

Unlike most of black culture now Hendrix promoted peace and happiness and not violence. He also expanded the sounds one could make with a guitar which made him the greatest to play it. I see the sex he had appropriate to the time seeing as it was the sexual revolution and all. I won't really comment on the drug abuse but atleast he didn't mention drugs in the majority of his songs. Aside from that he was a sucess and gave more black folks something to look up to.

He didn't really promote peace and happiness. He's been on record for being pro-war. The reason he pretended to be gay to get out of service was so he could play music, not out of any moral obligation. And I wasn't talking about promiscuty, but his alleged batteries and the general disdain he treated women. And his "success" was mostly posthumous (as well as rock-and-roll not being generally something blacks would seek to emulate).
Much like with jazz musicians of the 40's-70's, you have to separate the man from the music. It's easy to listen to them play and think they were great, noble people. But the reality rarely lives up to that image. Appreciate their music, but don't think they are any sort of positive role models.

Heh, actually as a kid I wanted to be like Robin Williams :)
You probably already were. But less hairy.

Just a question. Of what percentage of the people (Japanese people) will think that Ologun's attack will make some Japanese think that "Oh! So-and-so attacked one of our citizens, therefore ALL that looks like So-and-so are war freaks and good-for-nothing animals!". Just curious. And if I offend any people in my question, I apologize.

Here's what I saw on TV.
Bobby comes out, says he's sorry for all the trouble, but he didn't hit anyone. On the contrary, he was the one who got hit (by Muruaka). Bobby then lifts his upper lip to show the "proof". Bobby says that he went to talk to the president, and was told to go home by Muruaka. Bobby got pissed and told him to shut up (urusai). At this point, Muruaka gets pissed and rushes Bobby.
Then they show Muruaka (who is also a tall African who speaks Japanese very well), and he says that Bobby rushed the president, and he jumped in to break them apart.
During both interviews, both guys seemed very level headed, and they both seemed like they were telling the truth. It's pretty hard to tell what actually happenned.
I didn't see anyone calling Bobby names, or saying how black people are violent or anything, so you can keep that race card in your pocket.
