I live in New Orleans.

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

some info about me
I am so white I can help people understand the difference between ecru and eggshell. (bonus points if you catch the double meaning)
I go to school at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, USA.
I work as a delivery driver for a chinese place.
My interests are varied, but generally nerdtastic.
I'v never been to Japan. I'd like to, but I don't know if I want to work there or just be a tourist.
I don't like long walks and It has been a while since I've been to the beach.
I am bored, it is 3am, my home connection to the internets is out, and I've been thinking about going to Japan again.
"What does this mean to me?" you ask.
It means you can all stop jonsing and get you shuftastic fix!!!!!!

update
I live in Davenport, IA (for the time being)
I work at Radio Shack (for the time being)
I now know how to swim
I have a girfriend (sorry ladies, but don't cry, who knows what tomorrow may bring)
I enjoy rocking the karaoke almost as much as I enjoy watching this one guy who sings as many songs as th dj will let him a night who really sucks but he doesn't care. Seriously, that guy is my hero.
I enjoy irony
I like my physical humor like I like my country music, in super tiny doses
I only own two pairs of shoes
I own more ties than a star destroyer
I am having trouble thinking of other awesome facts about me.

edit
I for got some stuff
I failed out of school (for the 2nd time)
But I was the most active undergraduate member of the philosophy club
I almost got married to a female friend so she could get my health benefits (yay for sham marriages)
I gained 30 more pounds (this is a good thing)
I embezzled a chocolate cake, a cheesecake, a box of portabello mushrooms, and a bunch of tiramisu
And I realised I'm a guitar hero prodigy

Heyo. Yet another long time stalker first time speaker here.

I'm 17 [two months shy of 18. So close] and I'm from Southeastern Connecticut.

Interests: Japan / the language [surprise surprise, neh?], music [huge; my iPod and I are practically attached directly to each other], etc. I love John Frusciante and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Fray, Gorillaz, Mars Volta and Sufjan Stevens... but really I'll listen to just about anything that sounds good. Except country. Sorry. Country makes my ears bleed. I play video games now and then, too [lovin my Xbox360 and the leftovers of my WoW subscription.. but I won't be renewing it].

I found this forum a while ago... have been waiting to post for a month while they activated my account and whatnot :p

And on that note, I'm out of things to say, sooo... yep. That's it. Peace.

The Divine Comedy
09-09-2006, 01:19 AM
Well, I do like Chili Peppers (though I don't have much), but my general response was fueled by a country-inspired gag reflex. :) But, if you really want to know, rock, techno, metal, industrial, classical, folk, celtic and sappy love songs. :P My tastes go far.

OK. My name is Alex, I've been absent from the forums since the beginning of August....

I finally have INTERNET!!!! After calling customer service hotlines since the 5th trying to set up DSL internet, I finally got the modem and filters last night about an hour before work. (Including a WPA secured network it took me about 35 minutes to install.) I still wish to cause great bodily harm to many, many people, but I'm finally online. I was so happy I wrote a haiku about my day.

'had trouble today.
Internet gods are appeased.
Now I'm happy too.

Greets, all. Been lurking here for awhile. In a fit of boredom, decided to register and see where it goes.

I've always had a strong interest in all things Japan, but recently ended up marrying a Chinese girl. Considering the Chinese attitude towards Japan, I have had to let my interest lay low and not be mentioned to avoid issues. I am hoping that posting here from work will satisfy my interest in the topic and keep the peace at home, all at the same time.

So... Hi!

Hi all, I registered here a couple of years ago and posted a few times, but then I got really busy and wasn't able to visit the board was much.
Now I'm back (with a new name), and hopefully I won't lurk too much. XD

And one of the people I met on this board almost a two years ago I am very good friends with IRL now!

A little about me...I'm a 22 year old girl trying to finish up college as a Computer Science major. I am online way too much, I listen to lots of music, I play a few instruments (trombone, drums, bass), watch tv, I stopped being obsessed with Japanese things a year ago (it saved my sanity -- I admit I used to be a hardcore fangirl). -_^

Hi there guys and gals.

Im unhealthily addicted to Downtown and wish to understand what they're saying.
Im from the UK and im on a mission to learn to speak (Osaka-ben dialect is what I would like to speak) and write in japanese. As of 2 days ago I learnt the hiragana for AUIEO and the KA variations with the help of the various threads in the forums.
You guys and gals are great ^_^

Hello, my name is Jessica. I am a 16 (I'll be 17 on the 6th of Feb) year old American highschool student from Columbus, Ohio. I wondered apon this site by a link someone posted at another message board. I love reading Azrael storys about the little Japanese Jr. High school kids who are not much younger then myself. I like anime. I bet a load of you here do as well. I like some Japanese music. Well I like any kind of music so that doesn't really count. I am a total pervert. I enjoy watching porn and doing other stuff and I like girl X8 (giggles)!

I'm 19. I'm female. I exist. I'm not scary, but perhaps you are. Moo.

Respond to me with caution. Maybe. I'm not sure.

And THAT what my introduction. And, actually, I feel all embarrassed now because I was odd and thought that I would never ever be able to post because I had to wait for the people with the things. And I actually went as far as contacting them, but it was all silly. I was procrastinating and needed to study at a time. And somehow I am able to post AFTER I don't need to study. So, my procrastination was prevented.

Sometimes people have recognized me on the internet simply because of my posting style. haha! There's no such thing as anonymity on the internet for me. It's sort of funny.

Anyway, thanks for being...nice! I don't go onto many forums and I was nervous about posting on this one, but I saw that there are many people capable of having interesting conversations. So, I figured I would try!

Finally got myself registered here WOOT!

I'm 21, studying at University of Michigan for a CS degree. I've been taking Japanese classes a few semesters now, however, i'm still incredibly BAD at having japanese conversations.

I've been reading OP9 since probably the year and a half before it became GS, I have no sense of time whatsoever, play games like its a living, and am going to seattle for an internship this summer.

Hi. My name's Eric and I am 16 years old. I live in Wisconsin and go to a public school. I wandered upon this site about 2 years ago while looking for information on my report in Japanese class. I speak a little Japanese but not nearly enough to call myself a Japanese speaker. I'm actually going to Japan this June for a few weeks with my class and I hope to have fun/

I am pretty laid back and I like to make jokes. I am usually not too uptight about anything but I'll speak my mind when I feel I need to. I like long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners. I guess there's not much else to say about me but I hope to become an active forum member because you guys seem like a lot of fun.

I have not touched a drink since freshman year.

And I'm Peter, by the way, and I am a Biochemistry major, if anyone wanted to know.

I'm Kelsey. I'm 16 (17 on May 4), and from Michigan. Female. I'm a junior in high school.
I've been a regular on the threads for a few months now, and on the IRC since late May.
I have three best friends, Divine Comedy (aka Madelyn), Melissa, and anver (aka Dominik). The last also happens to be my "boyfriend." I met him here.
I don't drink often, and I don't do drugs, but I would if the chance came up. I'm not shy about sex or the body or anything like that, but I am relatively insecure in person.
I plan on going to Michigan State University in 2008 and majoring in International Business and minoring in German. I will study abroad in Vienna and London, and move to one of those cities when I get out of school. There I will get a job at some company and work toward my MBA.
I don't want kids. I don't like them. I do want to get married, but only if I can travel the world at the same time.

I'm not sure if I want to get married because it's a lot of responsibility and ties you down in every aspect of the word (except literally :P). I'm not so good at handling responsibility, and while stability is a good thing, so is adventure. But if the right guy asks me, I'll probably end up doing it.
But, *shrug*, I'm still young, I've got time to decide what I want to do.

Hey everyone,

My name's Chris and I've just started learning Japanese. I live in Scranton, PA and unfortunately there's no formal classes in my area for doing so (no college's or otherwise offer Japanese) so I'm doing it all with a textbook and some flashcards! Going to be real easy I'm sure :bang:

I do Graphic Design for a living and I'm currently 26 years old. I'd love to one day visit (or maybe even move to) Japan one day.

I've been a big fan of Az's editorials for the past 2 or 3 months now and really enjoy learning about Japan through his experiences.

Some random things about me:

Favorite Animes: Red Garden and Elfen Lied
Favorite Movies: Memento and Oldboy
Favorite Music: Jill-Decoy association, Spoon, Delgado's, and yes, Morning Musume (I know, I should be ashamed!)

Well, guess I'll see everyone around the forum!

Hi,
I'm Roland, 25 years from Germany.
I came on OP9 over This Picture (http://www.lachschon.de/slide.php?id=47968)

I read the Wikipedia Article with the Link to OP9 and was instantly hooked.
Just about 2 Weeks ago, I realized by visiting the old OP9 site, that theres A Forum Link which led me here. I registered and waited for YEARS to be able to write....

Although I don't speak Japanese, I'm just beginning to learn by myself...

Now that I read quite some Threads, I have some questions:
I recognized a "(sp?)" in some posts and a "RWPW". What does that mean??

P.S.: I will answer every Welcome-PM....... probably ;)

(sp?) means people are unsure of whether the spelling they used was the correct one.

My deal is that my name is Barns, I'm 22, I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and I'm going to be living somewhere (as yet unspecified) in the Kanto region from 1 June, 2007. I have never lived outside of New Zealand before, let alone in (potentially) the most populous urban area in the world. It's very exciting.

Feel free to bombard me with advice, ridicule, and naked pictures of your mother.

Greetings. I'm Kyle, as my name suggests, and after several months of reading the forums, I finally decided to register. I've been reading Japanese School Teacher/Gaijin Smash since there were only two dozen or so editorials, and I'm still a fan.

My connection to Japan-related stuff is an affection for Japanese indie rock - I don't particularly care about anime/manga/the other typical Japanophile trappings. I've been learning the language for the past six months or so. I just finished my first year of college (English major... hoo boy... doesn't take a genius to see where this is going...) I also like writing, playing guitar, etc.

Also, I already know H2orowe from another forum (yeah yeah... I said I was going to join eventually, didn't I?)

Hello Chuckles. :P

Hey, thanks. Yeah, I actually came here for the Japanese board—a google search I did turned up some posts there, and it seems like a collection of very sensible and interesting posters. I haven't been active on a message board in years and years, but this seems like the kind of niche board I might enjoy. Also, I also like communicating with people who have better Japanese skills than I do (and there are plenty of them here), because it helps me learn.

:watson: If you want, give me your MSN or AIM or whatever (if you have one) I can help introduce you to zee communiteh so you don't feel all confused :3

Was not hitting on her/him! I don't hit on someone unless I'm 100% sure they're female/post-op.

Alright.

Here's dzee. She's pretty neat, however, she has this strange fetish. :O She's obsessed with French....... bread. If you put French bread on someone's head, it makes her go insane with lust. She's just like OH MAN I WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO THE WEARER OF YON DOUGHY HELM.

I thought I'd introduce myself. Name's Toni and I'm only here to annoy Allen ^__^ <3

THE SHOE IS ON THE OTHER FOOT. RUH ROH.

But no really, I'm not that bad a person <3 I like long walks in non puddle infested weather (which we're having a great deal of right now in Sydney, Australia), mudkips, avoiding customers at work & spam ham. Plus the usual animu & gaming jargon (Cromartie High is wuv <3)

That's all. Nice to meet you desu.

Hi there. My name's Jay, and I'm Australian too. ^_^

Welcome aboard. Please keep all arms, legs, tentacles, octopii and penii inside the ride at all times. If you feel yourself being carried along by a hijacked thread, just run with it and everything will sort itself out in the end.

Or not.

Welcome aboard anyway. :D

I be 20 years young, 21 in August. I like music, porn, sex, food, videogames, etc. Just not comics or movies based off comics. Those are major fail. For more just do whatever to get a hold of me. Yeah....

Hi ~

Since I don't think I introduced myself before (on my ancient account) so I thought I would do it this time.

My name's Roxanne, I'm 18 years old, presently a student in Traditionnal and Computer-Assisted Arts. I live in Canada, Quebec (the province, not the city). My first language is French, so please excuse the many errors I will probably make while writing. I'm still trying to improve ~

Anyway, for those who may wonder ; I had another account here on this forum before. I was here for a while, so I'm not quite "new". The nickname was "Fallen Angel" >_>;;. But when I decided to get back here (I stopped coming when the website moved for some reasons... I don't remember why, actually), I decided I didn't like my old nickname, cuz it was from when I, well, wasn't original and stuff... anyway! So now I'm back, with lots of joy and candy mountains ^__^

h2orowe
07-19-2007, 06:07 AM
Roxanne! You don't have to post at a redlight, those days are over! You don't have to sell your message to the night, lullz.

Sorry. >_>;

ANYWAY! Welcome, my friendly French-Canadian forumite. Or shall I say, welcome back. You have been added to mine MSN. Consider yourself lucky. You passed the test. What test, you say? The test.

Sohym
07-19-2007, 08:30 AM
The... random test? Yaaaaaaays! Awesome! I'm lucky ^.^ *dances*

Oooooh and eh... no wait, I forgot.

Y'know, I'm not always randomly insane. But a headache does makes me kinda stupid. So now I'm gonna wonder... where's the money I made from selling messages? I want it. Badly. Like, now. Or something... god, I hate headaches.

And gimme candies or I shall, hmmm *thinks* do... something... bad... to your kitteh!

...

I need sleep... XD

I don't just give my candies to random strangers. What do you think I am? A candy hooker? Well, I'll assure you, I am not! ;p I have to get to know you better before I just go givin' out my sweets.
