Since this movie recently came out on DVD and UMD for us americans. (Not sure about other countries) I've decided to ask everyone's opinions on the movie.
I think it was topnotch, the choreagraphy and music were perfect in every scene.

It was really cool, but I don't have subtitles.

If someone could tell me where to get subtitles that would be awesome!

I haven't watched it yet, but seeing as people say it's good, I might check it out. My dad bought a bootleg of it a while ago when he went to Malaysia.

It was a good comedy, a good action movie, and had some ideas too. Maybe not _great_ in any one area, but one the whole it was fun.

I think I may pick this up on DVD just from the mostly positive things I've heard about it. Although with Sin City coming out next week, I may hold off for now.

Over hyped worth a rental. If that. It does have some intresting parts though. Would say its even close to my favorite movie.

me and my friend went to watch it thinking it'd be only humour... the first few moments were... well, we didn't really know WHAT we were watching, with all the murders going on left and right. :P

Ah so Kung Fu Hustle is a good movie huh

I was hesitating cause i was sort of thinking that it was going to be complete shit like Kung Pow. That movie is horrible.

Also Sin City comes out on the 16th. I'll probably just get both on the same day.

The casting is great. The tailor character's actor has his own Hun Gar Kung-Fu school in San Francisco, you know. I wouldn't mind checking that joint out...

This movie is NOTHING like Kung Pow, it is a serious Kung Fu movie, and it is light hearted at times. There is no way this can be compared to that waste of an hour and a half...

Wha? I'm all over that!!!!! Kung pow is one of my favorite takes on another genre. It clowns EVERYTHING in the Kung-fu world. Kung-fu Hustle? It is at the very least, a worthy successor to Kung-pow. If you liked Kung pow and/or Shaolin Soccer, GET KUNG-FU HUSTLE!!!!! If you don't, you'll fee my words in your nightmares.

Stephen Chow movies are generally wacky in premise. This movie is no exception, and some of the hilarious scenes in the movie are proof of it.

One scene I should really point out, the scene where he tries to assassinate the landlady with the throwing knives... pure gold. Gold, I tell you.

well...i liked it alot when i saw it in theatres. but then that weekendish(they all melt together) I was forced to watch the movie 2 more times.

So yeah...3 times in like 4 days....Kind of hurts your image of any movie when you're the type that watches 99% of movies once.

But it's good, wasn't glory or perfect or super awesome but was awesome yes.

Shaolin soccer is fun too same director i think everyone should see both if they liked one.

But if you do watch it 3 times, you realize how simple the movie is. What makes it so good I think are it's charactrars. The 1k axes gang leader is hilarious with his cocky attitude. As is the one that played the lead role in Shaolin Soccer. I should probably remember their names huh?

I think everyone's just going to say this movie is good and move on though :P

Haha, the best part is when they keep on showing that guy's ass. Yeah, Chau is a fucking GOD, but i only have like 7 of his movies. I need fight back to school, but can't find a good torrent. anyone help?

Me? I like it mainly for the way it clowns the entire genre of the Kung-fu flicks. It gets ALL the stuff. The Kung-fu leap, the crazy Kung-fu styles, the insane villian, the over dramatic death scenes, nothing was left alone. On top of that, so much was added it was nuts. The hooters sign in the background got me rolling. LOL. In truth, it's a love or hate thing for most. Obviously, I love it.

Kung Fu Hustle is overrated and is only good enough to be watched once.
Shaolin Soccer is definitely a better movie overall.
Kung Pow should be banned from ever being watched again because of it's stupidity and the fact that they just pasted some white guy's head over an old kung fu film and giving it some horrible voice acting.

I thought Hustle was really similar to Shaolin Soccer.
(a lot of the actors are the same too, including the main ;-)

but hustle has a lot more blood... and isn't *quite* so over-the-top.

I imagine that Shaolin Soccer is similar to the anime Dragonball, while Kung Fu Hustle is more similar to DragonballZ.
Dragonball is more humour than violence, and DBZ is vice versa.

I loved this film! Hell, I even saw it twice =p

I think the fighting was excellent, but then again it doesn't take much to wow me. The characters were hilarious ("You might be good at Kung Fu, but you're still a fairy!" XD), the music got the right emotions stirring, and the end was awesomely sweet.

Now I gotta see Chow's other films asap =p
