From my google-powered understanding, it is a video game spinoff of Sonic.

Vote No.

Im not into Sonic anymore. I actually stoped playing video games as sad as it is. Im gonna partially start up once the nex-gens come out.

But. As long as i live I don't think I'm ever going to play video games at the level I onced used too. I'm moving into the "casual gamer" area.

Yeah but black hero w/ red highlights and he uses artillery and has access to a damned harley.

I think that beats half the other games Sega has put out.

Don't know. I've never been much of a Sonic fan. I have to admit the 2D versions were entertaining. The Dreamcast version I played was "Meh" though. Fun to play, not worthy of buying.

Same here. Played some 2d Sonic but other than that I'm not a fan. It's more of a time consumer for me.

I'm pretty sure it'll be an alright game, though.

STUPIDEST GAME EVER.

Sonic is my favorite series. i have a fucking sonic statue ripped off of a toys' r' us' dumpster in my backyard. i have every comic from 0 to like 80 or something, and all of the specials. i have every single game including the betas, chaotix, and sonic cd on my computer, and sonic adventure 1 on dreamcast. (never bought 2, even though it was better.) i also have a sonic soundtrack of jazz songs on my laptop, although it's fried.

HOWEVER

after Sonic CD/2, the series started going downhill a bit. (if there is a tie in score, that means i think the game above it is the slightly better one.)

Sonic CD = 10 (rating, out of 10) (this is assuming it's japanese music version; otherwise it's a 9)
Sonic 2 = 9.5
Sonic 3 + Sonic and Knuckles = 8.5
Sonic 3 = 8
Knuckles Chaotix = 8 (just because of the music; otherwise it would be like a 7)
Sonic 1 = 8
Sonic Adventure 2 = 7.8 (just because of the space level near the end, w/weird gravity)
Sonic Adventure = 7.5
Sonic and Knuckles = 7.5
Sonic Battle = 7
Sonic Advance 2 = 6.5
Sonic Advance = 6.5
Sonic the Fighters = 6.5
Segasonic Arcade = 6.5
Sonic Spinball = 6
Mean Bean Machine = 6
Sonic 3d Blast = 5.5
All of the game gear games = 5
Sonic R = 5
Sonic Shuffle = 5
Sonic Jam = 5
Sonic Pinball Party = 4.5
Sonic Advance 3 = 4
Sonic Heroes = 3.5
Tails and the Music Maker = 3

and what do I think Shadow will be?

Shadow the Hedgehog = -999999999999

why is this?

BECAUSE YOU ARE GIVING A SONIC (organic) CHARACTER A FUCKING GUN.
A GUN.

the ENTIRE sonic series was based on the premise of NOT using violent weapons, the animal's naturalistic society fighting against the technological oddity of Robotnik/Eggman. Why the *fuck* would you give him a gun? I don't care if he's "bad ass" or "evil" or "cool", you are just RUINING the entire Sonic philosophy by putting this game out there.

Not to mention, all of the games since Sonic Adventure 1 have been PISS ass easy; i blew through both adventures one day in under 4 hours (not counting cutscenes; and yes i mean all characters, and dark and hero and final paths).

Back in the day it would take me a good HOUR to beat Sonic CD alone with the good ending, and that's a 2d game!

Sonic CD is *the best* in the series, bar-none because the japanese music (and the USA music, but not as much) are fucking AWESOME. I could listen to them for HOURS; the jazz in the japanese version is to fucking die for. The semi-rock of the American version is not horrible either; it's just I like jazz better.

Sonic CD also has time travel that makes the game EXTREMELY high in replay value; not to mention awesome anime cutscenes, and time trials that unlock hidden features. All in all, Sonic CD to me is the "essence" of pure Sonic.

Sonic Adventure to me was AWESOME at the time... until i started playing it for a while and then i noticed just how "un sonic" the game felt to me. Shadow is only going to make this worse. ><

If Sega wants to get back on the sides of the hardcore fans, they need to release a NEXT GEN or CURRENT GEN Sonic game that is 2D or pseudo 2D (think klonoa, etc. where the landscape is RENDERED in 3D but you stay on a 2D path, although i'd prefer true 2D more.)

A great example of using high tech hardware (and this is only PSX) is Castlevania:Symphony of the Night. The graphics and music in that game were BEAUTIFUL 2D and it's still one of my most favorite games ever.

Another example is Guilty Gear X/Asuka/etc.; look at the INSANELY beautiful backgrounds and animation in those games, and you'll see that 2D still has kick in it left.

So think about the raw awesomness of 2D power that could be achieved on a console like XBOX 360 or PS3 or Nintendo Revolution...!!

I guess all i'm saying is, I may only be 19, but damn, i'm an old school gamer and I want my 2D back! Use 3d for games that really need it like Metal Gear or Katamari or something where 3D is used for a good purpose, not a gimmick.

*wonders how many people actually READ all that*

Shadow awakens with amnesia and is tormented by a dark past as he struggles to unveil his true identity. Was he created to save humankind or to do the evil bidding of the dark side? Only by collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds will Shadow unlock the truth. Caught in a complex battle between aliens, the G.U.N. army, and Dr. Eggman, Shadow becomes the very element that may tip the scales between good and evil forever. The epic is set…and the path that Shadow will ultimately take is completely up to you!

:( Sonic never used to fight aliens and have guns...I liked Sonic more :/
It's like some kind of sick joke...

Meh, Sega shoulda never started making 3D sonic games. The idea is you're on a rollercoaster ride through a fast paced inventive level. Not wondering around for ages.

Sonic Heroes seems to be the only 3D sonic game that remembers this formula.

Plus the new sonic games (especially adventure) had TERRIBLE music. Ask anyone to remember the Green Hill Zone music from Sonic 1 and they can, but Knuckles theme from Sonic Adventure two is just remembered as "oh that shit rap song".

Cluey: That's the difference when Dreams Come True composes the music =\

They did a lot of the music for the original Sonic games, before they became famous... And it was actually quality stuff.

Sonic doesn't equal shooting. Shoot, it took me awhile to accept a lot of the Sonic Adventure characters as legit (I still think they should have just put the Freedom Fighters in a game). Now you're giving a character who's NOT Sonic/Tails/Knuckles a game? With guns? I think my distress can be best explained by a VGCats comic: http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=140

Probably not. SA2B wasn't that bad, but vehicles in a Sonic game? Whats the point?

Whoa, what? Sonic Heroes is by *far* the worst of the 3d games.

Controlling 3 characters at once might BE good, if they actually used it in a interesting manner...

but most levels are just "speed character run some > fly character fly over gap > strength character kill bots > repeat" so it's fucking boring.

The game had bugs out the ASS too, and they actually reused ALL of the old sonic sounds for just about everything, showing that they're lazy as fuck. I couldn't even beat the casino level with any team but sonic's because everyone else fell through the ground half the time. yes, just fell THROUGH the ground.

Sonic Adventure 2 was by far the most "closest" to the Sonic CD days of Sonic; almost every level was speed stuff, but also forced you to do mind puzzles, and the end space stage was awesome, with changing gravity, just like the final stages of Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
