My favorite guitarist is still John Petrucci from Dream Theater... and I tried like hell to find a clip of the man himself playing a -good- song, but all I could find was someone doing a cover (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3356204069484951999&q=petrucci) of the solo from one of this side-projects... :(

I agree, that was really cool. Petrucci is also one of my favorite guitarists ever (Dream Theater is amazing). If you wanna see something else on a similar scale of awesomeness check out G3, a group of ridiculous guitarists going on tour. In 2003 it was Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Yngwie Malmsteen and in 2005 it was Vai, Satriani, and Petrucci. Here's a link to some videos of the 2005 G3 tour. Yeah all of Paganini's stuff is beautiful. The most amazing solos i've seen are stuff by Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, Ron thal and this one guy who I can't find the link to.

Pretty much anyone with enough practice can play like Petrucci, play classical pieces and blah-de-blah, but very few people can do the huge string skipping, percussive/eccentric stuff the above guitarists can.
