Hey I just wanted to know have any of you guys ever heard of a book called the Bible Code. My friend was reading it and it said that a major earth quake will hit Japan and sink it into the sea between the years of 2000 - 2006.

I just wanted to know what you guys think because I got a good laugh from it.

I dunno about swalloing it, but there is a huge earthquake lined up just south of Japan in likely the next 50 years.

Well, Az must haul ass then? Though if that were to happen i'm sure China would have a great time spinning that into lovely colorful propaganda.

does your friend believe it? lol
well techniclly it is possible if you look at japans geography, but it would require huge forces, like an 1 in a 50 million year earthquake.

Well, it would be terribly inconvenient, so I certainly hope not.

I have no idea why Christian groups and other people bother counting down to the end. According to what I hear from the bible no one will know the exact date or time. It will happen all of a sudden and without warning. People will be going about their daily lives and all of a sudden they sky is dark and God decided to blow up the universe.

Not before everyone who didn't get right with God will weep and fall to their knees before it is all over. This is because they now realize that all their chances had slipped away and they are now hopeless and doomed to a horrible one swift death and a eternity of something bad.

According to the bible.

Scientifically we should live out until the supernova hits granted if we aren't smashed by a comet or destroy ourselves.

Take your pick I am only telling you what I believe and what I heard.

The Bible Code also mentions that the Apocalypse will occur in 2006. Michael Drosnin, the author, also claims that the alien wrote the Bible. Sorry, but I liked Nostradamus' prophecies better. And according to some interpretations of Nostradamus' poems, this world was supposed to be undone in 1999. Some believe the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world by December 21, 2012. I'm afraid of how many apocalypses we are supposed to go through. I mean, one should be enough for all of us sinners, ay?

There's a good book review that details the faults of the Bible Code.

And a passage from Moby Dick that predicts the death of Drosnin.

It's groups like this that give Christianity a worse reputation than it already enjoys. We can anticipate the signs of the End of Days, but it is not given to us to know the hour. It'll come like a thief in the night and all that.

I like how the guy (if you read more of his pages) predicted Israeli nuclear holocaust in 1996, and then it didn't happen, so he starts trying to rationalize it, suddenly finding that there are provisions for change in the scenario. Yeah, great, prophecy that's subject to change if it doesn't come true...

Its a little more complex than that... and well pretty much spelled out in the bible if you care to read it.

The left behind series is marginally entertaining as well if you want to dive into that... way to many books though.

Yeah, exactly like that. Only God knows, nobody else does. It's just impatient people who want to know something they're not supposed to, and can't know, and try to 'predict it' for their own reason. God will know when the time is right and all. I remember someone saying about the code "If God were to make a catastrophy such as the armageddon happen, he'd tell us in some way when it's coming so we're ready for it", which is completely contrdictory to the Bible basically saying "be ready for it at all times, you don't know when it's coming so be ready from now". That's like saying "Next year there will be a hurricane". People will want ot know the EXACT date for it so they can buy teh supplies the day before, instead of already being prepared for it.

I know exactly when and how the world will end.

But I'm not telling.

I like the portion relating to impatience; too many people tend to live in the future. Unfortunately, the majority of children are taught to live in this society using the anxiety of failing. Through this, some are actually willing to take the messages to heart, and instead of living contently, thrive through their "last years" in mixed fear. Disciplined independance in thought, and willingness to accept, has seemingly run dry.

The world will end, September 23rd, 2086. I know this because I make educated guesses on everything.

George Bush will still be in office by then, and in a fit of rage at not being able to beat Super Mario Brother's 3, he throws the game controller at a wall. Accidently hitting a button that's labeled "Send nukes". We all die.

Actually, there's a movie coming out about that next year. The boniest of the SMAP boys is one of the main stars. Japan sinks beneath the ocean. Horror, scare, evacuations, etc. I saw the teaser in the theatre yesterday.

and then it says:
Japan will sink into the ocean in 2006.

But... it could happen tomorrow.

Why the concern about Japan sinking, while Venice sinks faster than Japan right now?

Don't worry, Jesus won't let his body sink into the sea:

In 1935, Kiyomaro Takeuchi discovered 1900 year old document stored in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, containing evidence, that Jesus (Joshua) born in Bethlehem to virgin Mary is buried in Herai Village in Aomori district of Japan. The document contained also Jesus will, requesting that his brother's tomb to be located next to his. The document was SO authentic and news so explosive at the time, that the Japanese government banned the document from public view and kept it locked in a museum in Tokyo. During World War II Tokyo was severely bombed and the museum with all documents was allegedly destroyed. Luckily, Takeuchi family made copies of the document before surrendering it to officials. Copies preserved by the Takeuchi family survived to this day.

Naaaa. Its more likely they'd build a massive dome over the top, then stick a tube up to the surface where a supersized aircraft carrier acts as their airport.

Reading this kinda stuff is extremely unhealthy. That's what I think. It just makes everyone miserable. If something bad is going to happen, it is best not to know it. T_T

It's just what I thought of when I read what you wrote. Just trying to be funny. Appears that I failed again.

I completely agree with NERD. We were supposed to be dead because of all thses predictions so many times, it not even funny. I read through the bible code, thought it woud be intresting. Until i realized that mathematicly it was possible to get random words and sentences the coincedently meet in book with about thouisand words. Like playing that word finiding game where you look for words in a mass for letters (how can I forget the name of that game...) anyways, I probably spend more time looking for words that are NOT there. And a find plenty. Like in Italian class we were looking for words and I found a sentece, "joeisgay" (it was backwards but it was there.) I was laughing so hard, espically when a friend of my was sitting right near me, guess his name? Yep, Joey.

As for Japan sinking...well you said from 2000 - 2006, well then we have 1 year left so to find out how true that is.

I know people are Japanophiles here, but more pressing matter is not 'Japan sinking to the sea' as predicted by some crackhead. At the moment, the sea level is rising, and there are some nations seriously threatened by this due to their land level being equivalent to or lower than the sea level, like the Netherlands, for example.

Predicting the apocalypse is the perfect scam. You just pick some random date after you think you'll be dead, choose some natural disasters that hit certain areas frequently, come up with a little mumbo jumbo to support your claim and bam! Just like that you have yourself a decent selling book that makes you loads of money and you won't have to worry about the repricussions because by the time the supposed apocalypse comes about you'll be dead and so will most, if not all, of the people who read your book...*goes off and starts writing*

I personally believe predictions of the apocalypse....prove when it won't happen.

How hard would it be, in a writing the size of the Pentateuch, to find patterns of "words" and "phrases" when the langauge it's written in doesn't even write down vowels! Please. You can insert anything you like in there, if you want to waste your time doing it.

I read the book - and found it fascinating. And very silly. :)
