What does everyone think about their jobs?

I personally find my job to be the most boring thing ever. Not only do I get completely overpaid for the services I provide but I get absolutely no self fulfillment from it at the end of the day. It's sad.

I love half my job, am ambivalent to a quarter, and hate the other quarter.

Half my job is interacting with the kids. It's great. They're (for the most part) interested in learning and interested in speaking with me, and I enjoy being in front of the class and doing my little performance gig replete with pop culture references and stuff.

One quarter of my job is sitting at my desk marking papers or otherwise shuffling documents. I'm ambivalent to this because it basically consists of doing nothing really important. If I finish or am feeling too lazy to mark assignments, I waste time on the internet. Again, ambivalent. :P

The final quarter is planning lessons and otherwise dealing with the school administration. This I hate, because I have to plan on rather rigid unwritten guidelines for which I receive next to no feedback, even when I seek it (I've had the JTEs pull out of a scheduled meeting without informing me and then blaming me for not properly finishing the lesson). In addition, one teacher in particular is, to put it politely, difficult, yelling at me for stuff that's not my fault, getting into moods and refusing to help me IN CLASS (height of poor manners, if you ask me), etc.

Overall, I guess I'm satisfied. The money is good, and the work is largely decent. Dunno if I'll stay a second year, though. Having to deal with the same crap repeatedly really starts to get under your skin after a few months.

My job (working as an orderpicker) isn't bad, the pay is good, and the collegues usually like to kid around. But i seriously hate having to travel there on my rickety scooter at 5 a.m. in dense fog and freezing temperatures for 40 mins. So i'm trying to find something closer to home.

I work at a warehouse. Order Picker.

I get paid 9 bucks in contrast to 11 months since I started since January. Not bad, but I'm quitting.

My current job is as a handyman for a rich family. Basically I take care of the house and whatever chores they leave undone when I get there. The job is fairly easy and I get paid about as much as an apprentice graphic designer would.

Additionally the two whom I work for are working at Adobe-Macromedia and will attempt to get me in there as well :D

So yeh, I like the job :)

It's a bit of a running joke with my friends that I only work jobs for two months at a time. After a couple months at a job, if it's not up to my expectations, I just let it go - and I've only ever really thoroughly enjoyed one job outside of the two month period.

In my most recent job, I decided to try out the waiting/serving thing. It wasn't bad, but the management was horrible after a while, so I'm looking for something new once again.

At least you have the freedom to move on. karob<<<< idiot

It's true that I have the freedom to move around like that, but it doesn't necessarily mean that I'm not an idiot for doing so :P I really should stay most of the time - at least until having secured something else, but I never do. So while it's nice to have that freedom, I do pay for it.

I love my job!
Half the time I travel around integrating base stations and stuff like that into 3G telephony networks. Mostly in Europe, but I also got to travel to China and Australia. Israel is next. It's cool to get paid good money to travel around and play around with new technology.

Only downside is that I miss my family while travelling. Otherwise I'd go on long term assignments for sure. Or maybe relocate to the Japan branch office. :)

At least you're overpaid. My job is super boring, and I'm underpaid. >_< I just process changes to people's accounts on a computer. Except 3/4 of the time, there's no real change, so I just look at it, then close it out. Now that is boring.

I have the easiest job I'm likely to ever have. Office messenger. I spend about half (if that) the day actually doing anything (delivering post and other peoples work), and the rest of the day doing absolutely fuck all. Here's a photograph of me "hard at work"...

They actually pay me for this shit.

Well, one of my colleagues is an utter pillock, but I can tolerate that.

I love the place I work but I'm getting tired of dealing with patents all the time (it's been nearly 20 years). I spend my time reading and writing unreadable text like the following:

A buckle device comprising:

a device main body into which is inserted a tongue plate provided at a webbing belt;

a locking mechanism having a latch which is provided within the device main body so as to be movable between an engagement position, at which the latch engages with the tongue plate which has been inserted in the device main body, and an engagement released position, at which the latch does not engage with the tongue plate, wherein when the latch moves to the engagement position, the latch engages with the tongue plate and restricts pulling-out of the tongue plate from the device main body;

a first detecting mechanism detecting the tongue plate which has been inserted in the device main body, and outputting a first detection signal in a state in which the first detecting mechanism detects at least the tongue plate;

a second detecting mechanism selected from one of directly or indirectly detecting the latch which is positioned at either one of the engagement position and the engagement released position, and outputting a second detection signal in a state in which the second detecting mechanism detects at least the latch; and

a judging mechanism connected to the first detecting mechanism, and, on the basis of the first detection signal from the first detecting mechanism, judging whether or not the tongue plate has been inserted in the device main body, and connected to the second detecting mechanism, and, on the basis of the second detection signal from the second detecting mechanism, judging whether the latch is positioned at the engagement position or the engagement released position.

End of quote.

Believe it or not, it does have its extremely interesting moments. At other times, my brain hurts. But, it does pay incredibly well, hours are decent, coworkers are nice so I can't complain. But once I have finished paying for my daughter's college education (she goes in a year and a half) then I may try for a job I'd really like but pays jack like working in a pet shop or a kennel...yes a waste of my engineering and law degrees but I'd really like to work with animals- maybe I could switch to part-time and do animal rescue work part-time.

I love my job!
I get paid very decent money to train horses, which is something I've wanted to do since I could remember. I love getting up early in the morning and walking into a stable full of horses greeting me. They're always happy to see me and they don't complain about anything.
The people I work with are really cool too, which helps alot. :)

How do you manage to keep finding a new job? Do you use those places as reference? And if you do, how the hell do you explain leaving/quiting every 2 months?

I haven't started my new job yet, but I expect I'll like it. I'll be creating and troubleshooting model installations of Windows and application software for the lab computers at the University. That's not terribly exciting, but the neat part is the perks: lots of spare time between assignments (with Internet access!) and (legal) free software (from site licenses). That and my coworkers look to be cool people.

But, really, who complains about being overpaid, unless you work for a charity or something? Count your blessings!

Hmmm... well, it's really a case by case basis. Sometimes I will use references if it seems like they won't be checked or heavily considered. Mostly it depends on the interview process. If I can get an interview, I can get the job.
