I'm sure you, or some, would get a kick out of this.

I completely laughed my ass off watching the new Harry Potter: GoF Trailer. Although I liked the beautiful graphics, three things caught my attention. The reasonable great, yet, extremely dark landscape of the school, the way they completely bastardized Mad Eye Moody (hin the trailer, he looks like a total queef), and mostly, because, well, just look at the Death Eaters. They look like the KKK.

I seriously felt anxious, scared, and alot of giddiness about how close the two groups look so alike. For me, I thought their cloaks would look like Snape's, but with a hood, but I think the producers clearly bastardized the idea.

Take a look.

lol, mad eye doesn't seem mean at all, more like a retarded pervert. whats with his longass hair and that string to hold his fucking eye in? shit, man...he was like my fav character

lol @ the kkk, its too awesome for words how lame hollwood is getting. it would have been waaaaay sweeter if the deatheaters had the evil-jedi thing going on like in the books, instead of this black leather kkk/s&m thing going on

You can bet your ass that they will be sued by someone for drawing connections with the death eaters (KKK) and the muggles (blacks).

Wow sumbliminal messages in the Harry Potter movies. I demand one of you write a book on the matter and therefore cause the Potter empire to crumble.

Why? I don't hate Harry Potter, I just enjoy occasional discord.

See, this is why I didn't see HP:PoA, because that's my favorite book of the series and I didn't want to see the images I'd created in my head shatter before their real representation.

Basically, books > movies, in my opinion.

I can't wait to see how they do Nymphadora Tonks, I'm sure they'll manage to fuck that one up in a good manner. My favorite characters always got shafted...

Wait... I'm probably the only one here who cared... meh.

Oh, and yes, they are the wizarding KKK, simple as that. Why don't they have the Germanic characters shooting heils already?

There was also a same thing with the Naruto Anime.

Neji, some guy who has a vision of 360 degrees, has a symbol on his head which makes out a caged bird. In the Manga, it's a Swastika pointing to the left, whereas in the Anime, it's changed into an "X," simply because of the Nazi happenings back in WWII.
Also, there was a Pok'emon Card where it also had the Swastika, but Pok'eCo. got sued by Jewish people, and now it's edited out in the Western side of the world.

Still, that wasn't as much of an uproar as that episode of the anime that gave hundreds of kids seizures.

Yeah, that's the thing that most people don't realize. Hitler didn't create the swastika; he simply bastardized it (some people have called it Hitler's greatest triumph). The swastika is a symbol that has been used by many cultures across the world. Native Americans, Buddists, Norse religions all used it.

It's was even the insignia of a U.S. Army Division at one time.

That was the reason why a couple of Jewish people sued Pok'eCo for having a Swastika on a Pok'emon Card.

Jewish party complained that it was the sign of Nazism, but Japan revered it as a holy emblem.

Ironically, the Pok'emon Card that had the symbol was to be able to take CONTROL of another Pok'emon.

As a bit of historical trivia, the swastika actually has many different forms, all with the same basic shape. However, the one Hitler used was a Japanese clan symbol that he rotated ninety degrees.

ditto . . . . . . .

I think a great deal in the movies altogether failed to meet the mental images inspired by the books.

I'm bugged that they never really explained the part about Prongs, padfoot, moony, and wormtail.

Man, Moody looks like a pervert in a tree checking an amorous couple :(

But still, gotta lmao at the pic with his tied on eye. Isn't it supposed to be magical, and therefore not tied on with STRING? XDDDDD

And the Ku Klux Eaters? Jesus, they really messed them up. I always thought they'd be all Sith Lordy, that would look cool. Instead we get dunce caps dyed black.

^ they could have just looked at the pics drawn in the book for ideas if they didn't want to read it. They had the death eaters right in the last movie.

Yeah the eye thing bugs me. I always imagined the eye to have like a conical screw in the back that would lodge in his brain when he was wearing it.

I always thought Mad Eye Moody would look WOODEN, actually, and the eye was just as crazy as the book has described him.

Does anyone else think that Moody (movie version) would look better as HORACE SLUGHORN?

 WTF is with Cho Chang!

The way they talked her up in the book she's supposed to be this total hotty yet they choose an average looking girl for the part. I am so angry! Doesn't even at least look like the way she was drawn in the book too (which wasn't good either for that matter)!

Isn't Moody supposed to be some BadAss arrour (sp?) that turned Malfoy into a Weasly or ferret or whatever? Isn't he supposed to be able to kick death eater's asses? Why couldn't they make his eye in his head, just really big. They really messed him up. He looks like a crazy (not in a good way) old man who doesn't know where he is.

Looking at the movies, they never even compare to the visualisations accompanying my reading. I can feel, smell, touch, interact with any of the vivid details given when submerged in the book. I feel the chill of the dungeons. With each new book that comes in the series, I can look at the surroundings with more depth as the layers of meaning are painted on. The turbidity of light and dark imbues the entire scenario with more and more meaning as time goes on. I can pause, rewind, stroll through at my whim.
It is absolutely portable. With the snap of a finger I can dive headfirst back into the world. It remains a stable place.

Why the fuck would I ever want to go see some cheap, punk ass bastardised version that will make my rendition shrivel and my imagination cry bloody murder?
(this goes for pretty much all books). For the most part, adaptions don't work for me.

Ugh. I wanted the Death Eaters to be all Sith-like as well. They messed up the Dementors in the last movie too.

Y'know who I think would make a great Mad-Eye Moody? Geoffrey Rush.

The movies totally disappointed me. They run for about two hours and chop off half of what happened. I had to watch the third movie about three times just to get my head around all the changes. For example, the Knight Bus coming to a slow halt, not "almost running Harry over where he lay". It's just the little things that stuff it up.

I think the reason that the movies are only a set length is some stupid law about kids losing interest in the movie after it goes for a certain amount of time.

I always thought Mad Eye Moody would look WOODEN, actually, and the eye was just as crazy as the book has described him.

I thought so too. Strange. I don't like his eye either but I guess that if JK.R is supervising it, then it's what she imagined it would be like in the first place, or they'd change it.

WTF is with Cho Chang!
Yellow Fever = All Asians = hawt. The end :P
I know what you mean though. Doesn't bother me much since she isn't that big a part.

I thought the maze would be big, but not a whole valley... I didn't imagine them being on towers in the middle of the lake. I didn't imagine most of the stuff they showed, but putting it on it's own merits, it looks to be a great movie IMO. People who have read the books before (I did with LOTR and HP) seeing the movie are ALWAYS disappointed. You need to stop comparing the books and the movie since they are two totally different mediums. You are getting disappointed because it doesn't match your idea and imagination. But this should be as close to JKs as possible because she wants us to see what she imagined it to be like... at least it should be. They probably spiced it up and changed it a bit for the kiddies =/

My biggest complaint about the movies vs the books... Hermione played by Emma Watson is a little hottie. Hermione in my mind's eye was never that hot, always saw her as kind of plainish. Now when I read the new books I think of a hot little girl and I feel oh-so-dirty.

In Blade of the Immortal, the character Manji uses the swastika

http://www.geocities.com/angelflutter/images/manji_pic2.jpg

They put an explanation in the back of each comic about how the symbol is not anti-semitic and has been used in a historical context.
