I wasn't here in the old day but I've been a long time member at several other forums that are much smaller than this place. Personally, small forums can get old really fast. If some members leave for whatever reason, people stop posting and things just die. I love how here there are so many topics to respond to and you don't have to wait very long to get a reply.

yeah, they can die, but i'm in another forum that has only like 5 members... it's amazing

I don't really mind if the forum gets bigger. At first i was weary of new members, but most of them turn out to be pretty active members that have something to say. It keeps the forum interesting.

Doesn't matter. After all, about 60%* of new members get around in GD for a while then they stick in RWPW. Cheers for nothing.

Whats wrong with people migrating to RWPW? Everyone has their own section of the forum that they gravitate to. Hell some people post solely in the Japan section aint nothing wrong with that. People wanna fool around they go to RWPW

^ agrees with Idlethought.
I picked that the forum is just fine the way it is, but I think new people are cool too. So I could go either way.

Ditto. More people on the forum means more people to meet, talk to, find out about, and laugh with. It's not like we're an exclusive group of people right?

hey, im still fairly newish but i gotta say that this place is great. A good size as it is but more people would just make it even more diverse, thus being better.

I have no other forum to compare this to. I loved the old days of OP9, and I love it now, and I'm sure I'll continue to love it into the future!

I voted the old days, probably because it was all new to me and stuff.
Don't get me wrong, it's alright now too, just rose tinted glasses and all that :p

I'm all for more members. I enjoy reading other peoples opinions even those with whom I disagree.

If you only heard from people with the same opinion as yours it would get really old really fast. (Unless you like yes men)

Growth is a good thing and we've definitely gotten some awesome members, but the days of the old boards were fun, too! I remember I used to read every single post. I was really obsessed and had way too much time on my hands. I love the boards now but occassionaly I miss the old boards but... meh, oh well. As long as we don't get so many members that it's out of control, then it's all good ^^

I prefered the olden days...when we were small in number, and it was a race to the 2k post mark^^

But I'm a sentimental old fool :p

Bigger, but still a family...so what can I say?

Good nuff for me!

I'd hazard a guess that there's a bit more community feeling in each individual forum rather than the board as a whole. It was/is that way on Penny Arcade too, even growing to the point of rivalry and "Raid that forum!" warfare.

The old Forum was like a small town, where everyone knew each other even by the way they type and how they annoy one another. :D

Right now, this place is growing up so fast, many of the old forum's members are dieing (ruadhri, for example, was getting old for this stuff :p), and new members are cluttering up the place.

The old forum had a couple hundred people or so, now we've got over 1000+ members feeding off Az's Paypal donations.

I embrace y'all with welcoming arms of killer kill-able BICEPS.. Bastards. :D

Well, as for webforums, I'm not the most prolific poster, but if I see something I think I need to answer, then I damned well will do so.

It's taken me a little while to get used to this particular forum. It's not as acrimonius as some I've been on, and yet the rules are quite a bit looser than a couple of others... (THR for one (http://www.thehighroad.org) )

I remember that. I think I was one of the first 30 members or something...but then my account became inactive and got purg'd, I guess...kinda liked it then.

Raaaaaaarrrrrrrr....

Thats my opinion :P

Forums are forums. More members, less members. Its all the same.

This community is actually really small. I participate in communities that have 10s of thosands of members and don't really mind it. More people allows for more conversation which allows for more people to give opinions on topics that are of interest to you.

we know there's some that have users in the millions (just check http://www.big-boards.com/ ), all I am saying is, it's more personal when it's a smaller group. yeah, larger ones allow for more peoples opinions, but wouldn't rather discusss a topic with like 20 ppl deeply then lilke 1000 people shallowly?

Personally I dont think it matters, if someone wants a select crowd of people on a forum they should set it up themselves, all of the boards I'm a member of or a moderator do have a regular crowd good and bad but also a growing/large community so theres a veriety of views that make it worth being a part of, if there werent I wouldnt be on any of them including this one.
