We all have little obsessive-compulsive parts of us. For instance, my friend cannot stand getting coins back as change, he'll give a 99 cent tip if required. And me, I hate odd numbers, if the volume is on 23, I'll immediately change it to 22 or 24. What do you guys do?

I always put on my right shoe before my left shoe. Just habit.

I'm also a picky eater, so I often don't like my food touching and will usually eat one thing at a time on my plate(corn, then potatoes, then chicken, etc..).

I bite my nails when I'm nervous..... Like before a speech in front of the class.

Also. I always have to mediate which side I chew my food on. I can't chew with one side of my mouth threw out a meal.

lol. ummmmm i'm lazy? i always have to be "in the mood" for things.

wierd stuff? i just say wierd things to get reactions from people. sometimes i test the line/norms and ask wierd questions to prove/disprove my insecurties of taboo topics I guess. Just so i can say i didn't run away from it or shun it away like most people. <---usually a good idea but even I am not mentally immune and some of the shit i made myself ponder freaked me out for a bit. :P

ummm....hmmmm wierd habits....wierd habits......i don't think ihave much.

I'm usually really messy, but my DVD/game collection needs to be organized alphabetically, and by console. And the bills in my wallet are organized from lowest to greatest value (that started because I gave someone a $10 instead of a $1 once...).

1) Purr
2) Act out magic casting randomly
3) Play a song 4-10 times in a row if i love it
4) Brush each row of teeth the same amount of strokes by following a certain rhythm.
5) Pour myself a drink in a glass then drink from the carton / bottle.
6) The stuff i daydream about is pretty damn weird. And i mean it. If anyone wants to subscribe to my daily daydream newsletter, thats cool with me. Its basically a little even or scenario that happens in the format of a story from an omnipresent view.

I don't really have any OCD type stuff, but my boyfriend does. He has a problem with 1's. Like, if you're playing Mario, and you get all the coins except one, he gets pissed. Or if everyone orders the same food except one person, he gets mad. He also has this thing about socks. He gets really mad if you don't wear exact matching socks. They could both be white, but they have to be the same exact line styling and everything. What a freak :p

Rogue, I chew toothpicks too. They get mad at me because I leave half-eaten toothpicks on my comp desk.

Welll...... everything.
I told ya I am eccentric. I don't give a shit about
what others think about me. Or, I pretend to...
(well, I care about what my friends think, but they
are eccentric too).

For example, I don't walk to destinations.
I run. Often. Also, some time ago, I went
on a hike. Set out at 11 pm. Finished at 4 am.

As to OC.. not much.
I just hate conformism.

mmmmmm I mime stuff

every since I saw young ocelot I sometimes pretend i'm twirling guns
for no reason I just start or point my finger as a gun to people

since I saw the flame alchemist I snap my fingers for anything
for my dog to come or anything
for no reason I just start snapping them

then theres the fact I sometimes still mime a hadouken but at least I only do this one when i'm actually playing the game ... mostly

and I add my own sound affects to some games
Like boom or other blowing up sounds
or laser sounds

oh and I lose my balance for no reason, I think its on purpose not sure
I could just be walking and all of a sudden I lean to the left and i'm on like one leg regaining my balance .......

I could go on and on with other dumb crap ...

edit:I also make sound effects for when I pretend to twirl guns and when I snap my fingers I sometimes make sound effects like fire or explosions.

I also place my right foot into my left shoe, I also eat one thing at a time on my plate, I also mime things(Especially young Ocelot's gesture and Solid Snake's "Sounds like a spy movie" pose).

Something unique I do is initiate random staring contests with my friends. It's not really to determine how long one of us can stare, but more like how long we can go without laughing.

I hate phones. All phones. Hate talking on them, hate them ringing. I hate phones. If I was having a heartattack, and needed to call 911 to live, I'd probably die from indecision.

I'm also a picky eater, so I often don't like my food touching and will usually eat one thing at a time on my plate(corn, then potatoes, then chicken, etc..).

Yup, same here. I always save the best parts for last too. Like if I'm eating stew I'll eat one type of vegetable first until it's gone, then a second, then finally eat the meat when there is nothing else left. I also refuse to eat any meat that I can identify exactly where it came from. Like chicken legs, wings, or liver. I'm probably a closet vegetarian... but it tastes soooo good.

I absolutely hate dryer lint. It terrifies me. I hate doing laundry at a laundromat, because I have to remove other people's disgusting dryer lint. If I do my laundry at home, I can at least usually coerce my little sister into cleaning out the dryer trap. If no one will clean it out, I'll just dry my clothes in the dryer with the lint trap full. I'm not sure what it is about it that disgusts me so much, but even just the thought of dryer lint kind of grosses me out. In fact, I now need a shower after this post.

Oddly enough, this is one of my traits also. One thing you quickly realize is that there's a song cue in any conversation. I've actually used that cue to get everyone singing "Killing Me Softly" musical-style.

That being said, I am not an organized person by any stretch of the imagination, but I am obsessive about certain things. For example, I take good care of my iTunes playlist. I don't just download songs, I download them re-name them with their correct titles if needed, do the same for the artist and then place them according to their genre.

I also have this thing with watching movies and reading books in order. I can't read a sequel first. I just can't bring myself to do it. The other day, I tried to start reading JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but couldn't do it because only Volume 3 was available. Until 1 and 2 are available, I can't read it. The same goes for movies. I was kinda interested in seeing XXX 2, but I didn't because I couldn't bring myself to watch XXX.

I also have the habit of randomly performing the motion Spiderman uses to fire his web fluid. Sometimes I even say 'THWIPP!' in the process. :D

same here, it's really wierd. since i take martials, i ALWAYS get in trouble, too.

other wierd things:

my collections of discographies, you know, the one thats up to over 200 gigs now? yea, that's my biggest

i haven't cut my hair since i was 12, and in the summer when it gets hot i just put it in a bun and use a chopstick to keep it in place, like a woman

whenever i meet a new person, i imagine what it would be like to kill them, such as giving them smilies repeatedly or just punching them until their skulls are nothing but liquid and powder. and so forth

i draw things, then when i get them perfect, i crumple them up and throw them away

i collect branches, the longest one is about 20 feet, it's propped up in the stairwell, and my fav one is a staff-like thing, like gandalf's

i am constantly reading something, and ALWAYS carry philosopical (esp nietzche) and religious texts in a backpack (laotze, suntzu, nietzche, kierkegaard, kant, musashi, bible, torah (kabbalah and haggada), quran, vedas, ultiple buddhist texts and the guru granth sahib on keychain memory with erase-protection, and so forth)

cannot stand eating dry food, ie: i like my pasta all squishy and wet and gruel-like

HATE phones (truth: every single important moment in my life has been interrupted by a fucking phone call)

obsessed with living on a sparsely populated atoll, living on the beach in a stray and mud hut, playing guitar, growing and catching my food, and basically just chillaxing my life away, with perhaps a wireless net connection, if im able, and my jerry-rigged ipod (5x60gigs (most are stolen, haha), i'm working on it now, not doing so well)

Whenever I'm in the kitchen, before walking out I always check that the back door is locked, every single time. I'll even do it again if I go back into the kitchen quickly for something, even though I checked it less than thirty seconds ago. I'm probably paranoid or stupid or something. And I blink too much.

I listen to game soundtracks. That's not weird. Some of the best music, in my opinion, can come from a game. Music does not to be a marvel of musical difficulty and all that to be enjoyable.

Another weird thing I do is occasionally sneak around my house like I'm about to find someone in the darkness, waiting to attack me. I'm not crazy, I'm just bored. And a little cautious.

I dislike things that are not symmetrical. They annoy me to a great extent.

Also, I can't draw a clear straight line in my head. It always moves to the right. It annoys me.

Uh_oh
08-19-2005, 11:35 AM
I need the symmetry thing too. If I strech one arm I have to strech the other, if I move one leg I have to move the other too.

Also I hate physical contact with people unless I'm REALLY close to them (emotionally close, not physically). I'm sorry, it just scares me.

And I hate phones too.

And lose my balance, start to sway and fall over if I close my eyes while standing up.

I know, I'm weird.

Your situation is a little more extreme, but it's pretty natural. Maybe you have some balance issues that go deeper than just closing your eyes. It doesn't seem like a big problem to me, though.

I know when I close my eyes while standing, I begin to sway a little and very slowly. It's a weird disorienting feeling.

I can do that without swaying, even with eyes closed. And on one leg. In the shower while I wash my feet (which is strange habit number 1). They did an experiment at some university where students wore glasses for a week, which when worn, turned their visuals upside down. After a few days they got used to it to the point as to where it didn't matter, and they even prolonged the experiment for fun. Silly stuff.

My most prevalent habit is hitting hard objects when I pass them. Shins, knuckles, elbows, etc. on bricks, trees, rows of barracades, always at the college I attend. Kind of like when Mr. Monk (from the named show) touches poles.

Guilty of that too. I work on multiples of 5 though for some reason. I also hate the number 48 on a biblical scale. My dad, whenever he exaggerates a story, always...AL-F@#*%@-WAYS uses a number begining with 48. I absolutely REFUSE to teach any lesson that has its unit number as such. :D

I totally despise odd numbers, for some reason. My favourite number is 12, if there's an odd number of body parts (knees, fingers, elbows etc) sticking out I'll make it an even number... and stuff like that.

akitaka

On the contrary, I like it when my MD player's volume is set at 13. Not 12, not 14, but it has to be 13. The differences in decibles aren't so obvious, either.

Myrsilus

Shamu, biting your nails when nervous is rather normal. What is weird and unnatural is the habit I developed as a kid (no idea how the hell it happened). Instead of biting my nails, I would bite my own fingers around my nails where the skin could come off painlessly. I don't do it too much anymore, but sometimes I find my old habit kicking in and I have to slap myself.

I have an email account that I must keep with 45 unread messages in it at all times. I refuse to read the ones at the bottom until there are more than 45.

My underwear always has to be the same colour.

I will never use the doorbell. Anywhere.

I never like having a neatly made bed. If someone defies this and spends 15 minutes making it, I will promptly mess up the blankets and yell at them.

When I had an early class last term, I would wear my fuzzy slippers to school for the morning.

I buy excessive quantities of cheap jewellery off auction sites when I am worried. I bought $60 worth of rings (15 of them) this afternoon.

I don't ever wear rings.

I usually sing show tunes as I walk to school. I like the way it echos in the valley.

I dye my eyebrow. Singular.

After 4 hours online anything I say or do cannot be legally held against me. I am not sane. Any chat logs/posts/files should be deleted.
