Hey Az, long time reader, first time poster. I used to be a fellow JET up in Akita before moving Tokyo, but just wanted to ask a question about your bingo article.

Are you sure the kids aren't saying Reach? (リーチ、ri-chi). Every place that I've taught at the kids would shout at Reachi, not B-ichi, so maybe it's like that? If not, then I'm just suprised.

That used to bug me so I made a rule where they weren't allowed to say it, play it "American" style.

Anyways, just a question, good luck on the JP prof test, it's a breeze.

They are most likely saying リーチ, I get the same thing in my schools too. I don't really care much.

Yeah, well, it wasn't so bad as it was in Elementary Schools. I used to give them the rules of having their hands on their head, お手つき、 and not saying reach.

Heh...my kids all say 'bingo' now, or no stickers for them...

I also make them get up and yell bingo, if the next class can't hear you, you don't have a bingo.
