I've got a friend in the UK who is quiting her job soon and she's not quitting on the best of terms with her boss. So, we've hatched a plan to dial the talking clock in a faraway country, I was thinking Japan or something equally silly.

We're going to hit him where it hurts. His wallet.

The phone shouldn't be discovers to be off the hook for at least 48 hours. I just need to know does anyone know that talking clock number for Japan. Thanks.

It's not only illegal, is just plain immature. You think it's going to bother the boss much? Probably not, he'll just pass the pain up the ladder or throw it back down on your co-workers. Don't break his wallet, break his pride so the other workers can benefit too!

Don't dial the talking clock. Don't you have to give all of your previous places of employment as references in the UK? If she needs them as a reference (which looks better, a x year gap in employment history or bad reference?) then she's going to be screwed.
As the others have suggested, if you HAVE to do something, do something small that could have happened by accident. But it's just immature to do something like that IMHO...
