Implicit Association Test. Basically tests how much you prefer whites or blacks over each other through word association and pictures. I've heard about it before in social psychology, but I only got to try it out today. Apparently I don't prefer either one, haha. So if you got like 10 mins to spare, check it out.

Bias is just inherent subconsciously in a lotta people whether they want to admit it or not. The difference is in controlling it on a conscious level

I thought the test was pretty stupid. If it had started with the categories and warm up the other way my score would have been completely backwards. I got used to the pattern and when they switched it what do you think I started screwing up?

Everyone is biased. Everything from birth has effected how you see things.

So my question to those who took the test...did the results surprise you? Or did you sorta expect your bias level. I mean, the test is by no means 100% accurate anyway, tho you can expect the results to be more accurate if you get the same response more than once.

I was surprised by a few things.

Eg look at my results for how I deal with black people compared to whites or arab muslims compared to others. Both tests said I had no automatic preference either way.

Yet when I did the fair skinned to dark skinned test it said I showed a moderate automatic preference for Fair Skinned People compared to Dark Skinned People. That doesn't make much sense.

I'm bias. It seems that I find Asians to be more foreign than Europeans. Eh, makes sense. Some of my closest friends are Asian but they've told me things like, "Oh it's an Asian thing."

Given the way the test was set up, the results do not surprise me. If I thought it was a valid test, the results would be surprising. I understand what it is trying to do, but it does not account for people actually thinking about their decisions before committing to an action.
