Ok, I'm running out of J-rock :( I wanna get some more.
As of now, I have
Sambomaster (only one CD though)
Guitar Vader (2 CDs, only ones they had on J-pop suki)
all of:
Rie Fu
the pillows
Go!Go!7188
Asian Kung-Fu Generation
(And am getting right now) Bump of Chicken.
Any suggestions?
Please no Visual Kei....
Is Dir En Grey any good? Aren't they V-kei though?

I really enjoy Janne Da Arc (though they can be more popish at times), and aren't v-kei.
Larc' En' Ciel is a really great non-v-kei band as well.
Check them out.

Orange Range... :\ I like one of their songs, I've heard about 3 or 4...
The one that was a Bleach theme. Asterisk. Besides that, they're not very good... Iunno I might get a CD of them...
Ight, I'll check out L'arc, I've heard a few songs, they seem ok...
I'll also check out Janne De Arc.

(These are, for the mostpart, punk or ska bands):
- B-DASH
- Ska! Ska! Club!
- Never Good Enough
I'm not sure if this is kosher here or not, but does anybody know of a good torrent site for Japanese music? (I'm not looking for J-Pop as much as I'm looking for bands like those recommended in this thread)

Visual Kei is like...cross dressing + wearing very heavy make up.
Janne Da Arc and expecially L'Arc en Ciel are not v-kei :p

Weeee, here we go again. ^.^
Dir en Grey is indeed V-kei, and really annoying to boot (Kyo's voice makes me CRINGE).
I like Hide from X Japan alot, his solo work rocks all.
"Beauty and Stupid" anyone? ^.^

About Diru- they started out as visual kei but have moved away from that, toned it down quite a bit. As for the musical style, there's lots of screaming on Kyo's part, but some of the best drumming and guitar I've come to like. I don't know how to catergorize them....their music is about the pain and ugliness in life and in humanity. For me, it's very easy to enjoy when I am extremly upset or angry about something. Each cd that they have put out has a diffrent "sound" to it, but it's still the same topic of pain and ugliness. Download their videos or music if you must to hear them- but be warned: their videos are extremly graphic, it may upset viewers. The one's I think of are "Cage" and "Saku" have disturbed ppl I know. They're extremly realixtic and address issues that people like to pretend do not exist- they shine bright flourescent lights on it!!! Diru has alot to say behind their music (and yes, Kyo does shave his eyebrows off in the videos), but the only way you can hear them and decide for yourself is to LISTEN!!!!
And yes, akitaka, I went to that site and bookmarked it. Haven't had a whole lot of time to poke around it, but it looks very good. Thank you .

Dir En Grey's cage I think is the only song I've heard of them, but like... it sounded awesome in the beggining, kinda reminded me of Mar's Volta on the guitar...
Than the singer comes in -.- but I got used to it.
