Ok, after talking to Shannon about concerts, I thought, why not make a topic regarding it.

So let's have it. What is your favorite, or top 3 favorite concerts ever?

Mine would have to be...

1. Bon Jovi (The sheer amount of hot women there was insane)
2. Barenaked Ladies
3. Tie between Def Leppard, Janet Jackson & REO Speedwagon/Styx

Yeah, I'm old school.

1) A Perfect Circle - Birmingham Academy 2003

I'd waited about 2 years to see Maynard live in some shape or form and this didn't disappoint. Not only were his vocals insane (holding the 'Over this!' shout in The Outsider for about a minute) but he was backed by possibly the best set of musicians on the face of the planet in Jeordie White, Josh Freese, James Iha and Billy Howerdel. For their first song they did the 'The Vanishing' with Maynard behind a curtain for the first half, with soft shadow lighting, then when it kicked in the lights kicked in and the curtain dropped. Absolutely astounding.

2) NIN - 5th July Brixton Academy 2005

Recent, but none the less awesome. Once again a rock icon backed by a great set of musicians (another chance to see Twiggy the multi-instrumentalist). Hands down the best light show I've ever seen, especially during 'Terrible Lie'. Would probably be joint first if I had seen them in a smaller venue and been standing.

3) REM - Glastonbury 2003

'New Adventures In Hi-Fi' was the first album I ever bought, and after about a ten year wait it was phenomenal to see them live. Awesome performance, beautiful stage set up and the perfect set list.

4) Radiohead - Glastonbury 2003

Mind blowing performance. Again a brilliant mixture of crowd atmosphere, lighting and perfect setlist. Great to see Radiohead really on form.

5) Muse - Dublin Castle 2002

The first gig I ever went to and still one of the best. This was before Muse started playing clincally with carbon copy performances and identical setlists. Matt was insane and when I remember how he played that night I still remember why he inspired me to pick up a guitar.

6) Beck (Solo Acoustic) - Dublin Ambassador 2003
7) Ben Folds - Dublin Ambassador 2003
8) Mars Volta - Reading 2003
9) Sparta - Glastonbury 2003
10) Metallica - RDS Arena Dublin 2003

Special mention has to go to Hamell on Trial for being awesome, and to Machinehead, for blowing the PA then turning the monitors round to face the crowd and just turning up to compensate. Bloc Party were also absolutely phenomenal when I saw them in a 250 capacity venue this year. Frank Black solo acoustic pre-Pixies reunion was also brilliant.

Still waiting to see QOTSA, Pearl Jam, Tool and maybe the Smashing Pumpkins.

I'm sorry, didn't realize that there was a standard for what good music was. Guess I'm going to have to change what I listen to.

Bang Your Head 2002 festival

Iron Maiden Dance of Death tour Last summer

Savatage back in 2003

Gamma Ray 2002

Morgana Lefay 2000

Twisted Sister Last summer

Dio 2003

Grave Digger 2002

Damn, its hard to remember all the great concerts I've been to in the last 5 years. They don't let you keep your ticket stubs here (I don't know why, they just take the whole ticket instead of tearing the stub off, won't even let you have it if you ask for it.), so I can't really remember the exact dates

Let's see...

Tina Turner put on a really good show,
Def Leppered was pretty darn good, Barenaked ladies was good. Back when I was about 24 we took a friend to a Wierd Al concert as a gag gift, his show was actually pretty funny.

Wish I had seen the last stones concert or a queen concert

No. Listen to whatever you want.

If I am ever really critical about anything then it would have to be music. To me it is pratically hard to find anyone I like and I own a small amount of CD's that are actually REALLY good.

If I hear REM and Smashing Pumpkins I tend to gag a little in my mouth.

I know what you are saying, but to flat out tell someone their taste in music is bad is an insult. Who are you to say that what someone likes is bad?

See what I mean?

Sure we can all have our opinions, but voiced in a civilized manor is appreciated.

Yeah, but I find it more fun to watch people get angry when you insult the band that they like.

I can do that if you like.

You can do what you like. I can't stop you one way or the other. If you enjoy getting people upset and angry, more power to ya. People get their rocks off in different ways.

Well it's more fun if its a 13 year old kid who loves ICP.

Other then that the fun is kind of pointless.

Fair enough.

Another honorable mention for my concert list has to be Robert Palmer. That was the first concert my parents took me to growing up and it was a blast.

I went to NKOTB when I was a kid...that concert sucked ass!
Janet Jackson...loved the show and her music (still love her music)
Ben Folds...that was an awesome concert, but I was so tired because I was nine months pregnant. I love his music though.
Tony Bennet featuring Diana Crawl(sp?) and some other concerts at Rivinia in Chicago (one of my favorite places to hear a concert)

And Number 17, you make me sad when you insult people :(

I've got you all beat with just one. I saw Pink Floyd in concert in Clemson. That shit was AWESOME.

I've also saw Bush after their first album came out, Veruca Salt was on before them.

When I was six, I went to see Damn Yankees and Genesis.

I also went to the Wu Tang forever tour which had the Wu and Rage Against the Machine. Another awesome show.

I just went to see the Arctic Monkeys in Bristol this week. Definately one of the better gigs I've ever been to.

I just got back from the Hellogoodbye concert and it wasn't bad. Cute is What We Aim For was one of the opening bands and they were good. Reggie and the Full Effect followed them and they kind of sucked. Hellogoodbye played for about 40 minutes and put on a good show. They covered "What's My Age Again" for one of their encore songs.

Just a month ago, I went to see Muse and The Strokes.

THAT was mindblowing. I saw Drew Berrymore too! :)

Sheesh. The only real "concert" I went to see was Weird Al.

I would LOVE to see Creedence in concert. I kinda also wanna see Journey, but I really don't think I'll think of them the same when I realize it's not Steve Perry singing.

Uh, every week during the summer, I just remembered, my city has this free classic rock concert series. We had some pretty big stars come down. but by far, and he comes every year, the most anticipated is Eddie Money. I did enjoy watching him. He was a funny guy. "So this song was recorded in 1984... Oh god was it that long ago? How long? Oh well, I don't know, 3 rehabs ago anyway".

We also have some small time bands come in who were famous for just their one hit. Like for instance whatever that band was who did "One Thing Leads to Another" and also the group that did "Carwash". I think that might have been "Family Stone Experiene". Anyway, that was an awsome band. I didn't recognize any of their songs except for the carwash one, but it was so fun and energetic!

I really want to see Bon Jovi in concert. Lucky. My mom has a DVD of them performing live in some Euopean country in 2000. Sweden or some place like that. I really love Bon Jovi. Lol. I need to check out some tour dates. I'd like to attend more concerts :p.

Just saw the Kronos Quartet last Sunday, and enjoyed the show quite a lot. One advantage of going to an expensive school is that they are able to get some really big acts- like Seinfeld last Saturday, and Jon Stweart last year- both of those shows were sold out by the time I found out though. Grrr.

I wish I saw Queen in concert with Freddie Mercury, especially after seeing Paul Rodgers trying to fill his shoes and ultimately fail- though he did his best.

I might go see Bob Dylan in few weeks, which would be the third time I see him live.

Slayer 1995
I headbanged so hard that I got some small nerve damage in my neck and suffered blackouts for the next two months.

Black Sabbath 1998
I was so hung over that I really couldn't enjoy the concert, but just being able to say that I've seen Black Sabbath live is enough.

Judas Priest 2005
Raw Power!

Eläkeläiset, don't remember the year
The keyboardist was so drunk that he fell of his stool and some roadie had to lift him back up. Then he started stripping and in the end all he was wearing was a plastic clown nose on the tip of his dick.

Most stupid thing I've done:
I walked out of a Motorhead concert after a few songs, in protest of that Lemmy hadn't showed up for a meet & greet event the day before. :duh: Yeah, I'm sure I really showed him... I hate when alcohol clouds my judgement.

There's only one single concert that stands out for me. It was my own band. Apart from that, concerts are a bit like buying a highly overpriced CD that you only get to listen to a single time.

Still, I'm also the one who has always insisted that no, it doesn't make a difference whether the crowd is booing your team, or cheering them on, so maybe I'm just different that way.

Guns N' Roses in Dublin.

Was an amazing performance and it being a really nice, sunny day and drinking quite a few pints of Guiness made it even better.

I thought the Chili Peppers were gonna be the best I'd ever seen but they're getting too old, or rather, Kiedis is :/

Maybe he just doesn't care any more, seemed like it.

Slayer, In Flames, Lamb of God and Children Of Bodom will be playing in Dublin Nov. 5:th. I'm so gonna be there. That just might turn out to be the best concert that I've attended.

OMFG Agent Orange...I am SO FREAKING Jealous that you saw Floyd. SO JEALOUS. When was that?

My favorite concerts are probably....

CHER 200...2? I think it was 2002. Her farewell tour. It was amazing, and I was dancing and they put me on the big screen in front of everyone!

WARPED TOUR 2004 Mainly just fun because I was there with my friends, so that made it more fun. The only band I really liked was the Offspring.

OUTKAST 1998 (?) My first big concert, my parents took my little sister and me because I begged and begged. It was pretty sweet, but I think my parents were traumatized. They didn't realize what kind of music outkast is. This is right when Outkast got famous, it was cool.

Oh a sucky concert...Michelle Branch, Rooney, and Gavin DeGraw. They played well, but the audience sucked...no one even stood up, eveyrone just sat in their seats and looked bored.

The only 3 concerts I've been to were:
Sparta
Recover
and
Head Automatica when Young Love opened for them

The best out of those.. I'd have to say was Head Automatica. Then Recover. Then Sparta.
That's not to say that Sparta wasn't fucking awesome live, but, Head Automatica.. oh my God. It was just.. one of the best times I've ever had.

Beowulf
