My son is currently in the U.S.A. and has snatched a plane ticket to get him back here pronto so we can trot to the Immigration office and then the town Yakuba. And he asks me "So what does this mean for you?"
My first answer was "Well, it means I don't have to worry about anything when the kindergarten which provides my paperwork goes under." They are, sadly, in danger of that. They have very few students now even a few years after the principal was caught trying to bribe people to vote for him to become mayor of his town. I mentioned being able to work legally in a wider variety of jobs.
I did tell my son that the status does not mean he can let things such as his foreign resident card, multiple re-entry visa and passport expire. What wonderful things can we look forward to being able to do now that we have permanent residency status?
