I'm having my Japanese wedding ceremony in Nagano in Feb 2010 and my family wants to fly out with me for two weeks. Including me, there'd be 8 of us and they'd like to stay in Tokyo and then just bus up on the weekend for the wedding.

I'm wanting to just go the hotel route, but my family has said if I can find a way to have all of us in one room/condo/etc. they'd prefer that instead.

I've checked sites like www.VRBO.com, but I'm having trouble finding anywhere in Tokyo that could accommodate 8 people at once. :bang:

Any suggestions? :D

Look for a ryokan of some sort. Japanese-style lodging should have large washitsu for a group of people. I've bunked with up to 12 coworkers during overnight staff parties at hotels. Try looking up ryokan and minshuku (kind of like the business hotel version of ryokan -- a little cheaper, a little more basic, but still decent lodging)

Ooh -- Or if they're willing to stay in a hostel, K's House has 8-person dorms, and it's only about $28/person/night. Very clean and comfortable, and in Asakusa, which is awesome for history and sightseeing. Also, the staff speaks incredibly fluent English.

ya, if your fam doesn't mind bunk beds, hostels aren't bad, cheap, and very clean. We had 4 of us in one room but you can all say....get the same floor or neighbooring rooms etc.
