Here in a America many items that are purchased from a store can be returned/refunded/exchanged. Is this also true for most items in Japan, or are their policies more strict?

Please share your experiences and opinions.

Thanks,

Yeah its the same here, but its very very, VERY important that you keep the reciept.

And most Japanese people do keep the receipt. Countries differ in how they handle these things.

That being said, service in Japan for these things are generally better in my limited experience. They'll go the extra mile especially if a mistake is made.

I've always been treated very well. In 20 years, I've had a return refused only one time, and that wasn't really surprising. Hell, salespeople have even come to my house to make the exchange.
