Right on, Rox. I hope you and your wife have a pleasant day today and tonight. ;) Also, to everyone else who has a significant other, I hope you have a good Valentine's with your love.

If you are single, I hope you did something nice for yourself and kept the moping to a minimum.

Had an awesome day. From about noon until about 11pm I was with my new girlfriend the entire time. I got her a little gift like I mentioned in the other thread and she actually made me cookies as a present. So that was thoughtful. We spent a good portion of the day in Japantown and afterwards towards the evening we hung around Union Square for a while. I'm leaving a lot of details out, but I'll just say that this Valentine's Day was the best I've ever had.

My day was spent drinking hot chocolate with an ex, and watching Coraline with my little brother and cousin.

Moping was kept on the dee-elle.

I may not be the only one, but I am so sick of people saying "singles awareness day" and stuff like that. Are people that bitter and jealous of people that are fortunate enough to have a significant other? While I am single and cynical at times, it doesn't make me any less happy for people that have nice relationships and instead of complaining.

Instead, I'd rather use the day to wish friends a happy vday or hang out. This year, I spent it going to a tea party even with friends and having dinner with fun conversation ever. But I suppose I like to look at things more positively than others. :p

Yes. In the past, I wasn't quite so hateful of VD, but now that I'm away at college and everyone has a significant other but me (it seems), yeah, I'm very bitter. It makes ME sick that my friends who are in good relationships expect me to be even MORE happy for them than I already am on normal days. How fucking egotistical of them.

No, how pathetic of you. Why would you not wish your friends well? Do you not show a little more joy for a friend who's been dating for 4 years when he/she gets married? Same concept.

Maybe that's why you're single.

They don't get married every single year. I don't give a shit about a stupid Hallmark holiday that tells us to be fucking happy once a year, just because. If you have someone, great. If you don't, it's a horrible fucking holiday and I will NOT be happy just to placate the people who have a stupid fucking parade to march no.
In conclusion, no. Fuck you.

Keep it civil, guys. If you're going to say anything negative, take it to the RWPW thread. That's what it's there for.

This.

I've been single on Valentines Day for years now, and the only thing that makes me bitter is that I can't go and do some of the outlandish romantic notions and get into the day.

It's like halloween for me, a day that's just a lot of fun.

People that so vehemently hate the day just seem sad, so very very sad to me.

Yep, that's why you're single. There's a thread for you to be as dark and angry as you'd like to be. Instead you'd rather cloud up this one that's intended for those of us who enjoy the holiday.

Agreed. You're thinking way too hard if you hate Valentine's day. You're just supposed to have fun with it. This Valentine's day the girl I'm currently "involved" with was sick as hell and working all day so I didn't do anything.

Although every year since I was a child my mom would always give us (my brothers and I) chocolates and a card (see have fun with it) but because I'm in Japan I didn't get one this year...made me sad...:gloomy:

And riona do your friends actually really care about what YOU think about their relationship on Valentine's day. I would think they are too wrapped up in enjoying each other's time on valentine's day to really care about expecting you to be more happy for them.

Who think's like that anyway? I haven't met anyone that's been like, "It's Valentines Day...BE HAPPY FOR ME AND MY BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND!"

This year, my wife and I were too tired and too busy to do anything on Valentine's Day. My wife gave me some nice chocolates that she could eat, and I ran out to get her some more :hat:

To me the people who hate the holiday sound jealous and bitter. I spent many Valentine's Days single (I always seemed to be in relationships from late spring into winter, and break it off around the holidays). But to me it was just another day. Sometimes platonic lady friends would even give me chocolate or flowers, which was really nice, but I didn't need it.

Not getting into the holiday is a personal choice, but the bitterness certainly won't help you to have a bf/gf Valentine's.

I got sick for Valentine's day, but the delivery girl who delivered my food for the night wished me a good V-Day and hoped I got better soon.

I'm not better yet, but that was sweet.

You don't know me personally, so don't assume you have any fucking clue why I'm single.

Anyway, apparently I'm supposed to be "keeping it civil"... though I don't pretend to know why an attack on a stupid holiday is supposed to constitute a personal attack on YOU, which you responded with by a personal attack on ME.
That's all.

Be-cause-there-is-a-thread-for-you-to-express-your-distaste-for-the-holiday-in!

You posted here to throw shade. You found the proper thread once. Find it again.

Cheese and rice. I can't even wish anyone well on this damn forum without some BS fight starting. The tone here is absolutely awful. I'm done posting here.

VDay isn't just about couples. It's about celebrating love with ALL the people you love. I think it's great we have one day that's specifically all about love (if you ignore all the stupid marketing, of course).

I like to dress up in red & pinks and give gifts to my friends and family. I very much enjoy the day--whether I'm coupled or not.

So, thanks Rox!

Seriously, even single I enjoy Valentines day.

Just doing cutesy little office things like placing heart shaped candies on everyones desk.

Or finding a bag of chocolates in your pigeon hole.

When you're a full time workerit's just another fun excuse to put some joy into a workplace.

Ehhh...I suppose so. Honestly my sense of humor isn't very good when it comes to watching anime and laughing at a terribly made Americanized-anime that isn't intended to be funny for that very reason. I'd get easily bored.

How is Inuyasha Americanized? Unless you mean the dub. Anime is hardly ever Americanized and it sure could stand to be a bit more Westernized. It's such a bummer that anime has a lot of good settings and plot ideas whereas the actual plots end up becoming the same cliched thing with the same cliched characters. However, Western media is basically the opposite in my experience, we have superior characters and more variation, as well as deeper plots, but we tend to have the same like three different settings and the same few plot ideas.

I didn't mean this to turn in to an Inuyasha argument.

Not much of an Inuyasha fan, but I was mostly talking about the going to the mall part. D: Malls to me are like stores, but even more uncomfortable. I try to shoot in there, grab me my cinnabons and get the heck out asap.

I took one of my regular 'friends' to Hakone on a mini-onsen trip. It was fun at first, but she ended up complaining about that fact we weren't in a proper relationship for the majority of V-day and I had to basically kick her out of my apartment at like 10pm after we had come back to Tokyo. Thankfully getting rid of such friends is exponentially easier than breaking up with someone.

Then, in the epic Valentine surprise of the century, my friend called me up (at 11pm!) and invited me out with some of his (cute female) friends. One of which happened to be not a dumb gaisen, but rather attractive with a good personality. In other words, I finally found a girl that I can see for more than easy tail.

I think I've got best surprise ending in the bag

This is late ..my wireless G adapter passed away so I have intermittent internet until I pay for another one...Rox that was a great thread! When I was a single I didn't get all butt-hurt just went out with other single friends and had fun. Now that I haven't been single for 4 V-Days, I don't miss the single cesspool and don't feel bad for being extra corny on Valentine's Day. The manbot always outdoes himself.
