I was confused by the youtube videos, so I ended up going to Ulta and getting this (http://www.ulta.com/images/products/detail/2145642.jpg), and followed the instructions on the box. It was a very natural look, but it worked! I'll try to take pics next time I use it.

So I need to find some new places to buy clothes. And resources, like blogs/websites/etc to help me out. I've already mentioned many times (like on the front page) the kind of fashion I like, but I'm thinking about upgrading from pseudo-hipster to something a little classier.
In case someone hadn't noticed yet, I'm in Osaka at the moment so I can also access cool Japanese stuff. I like a bunch of what I've seen at places like Zara and Uniqlo, but if there's anything better-suited for my style, I'd love to check it out. However, my finances are limited and I can't work while I'm here, so if I get stuff in Japan I have to choose wisely.
Even though his style is a little different from mine I wish Mew ran a blog or something because everything he posts pretty much rocks.

Stephy, those boots are ridiculously cute. Who makes them?
I just bought a pair of boots the other day. My dad doesn't understand why I have so many shoes x_X

He decided some months back to not come here anymore because he had nothing in common with any of the posters. I feel the same way but stay for the hell of it.

We've not had threads that interest him I guess.
It wasn't that he felt he did not have anything in common with other posters, it was that he felt that too many posters were rude

September 9th isn't "some months back." That's still this month.
But I digress...
Just thought I'd post here to say that I was surprised today to find out that my favorite clothing store, Maurice's, doesn't exist in New York City. To find one, I'd have to go 70 miles out of my way into Pennsylvania. I thought this was the city where you could find anything. :P

Does anyone know any US online stores that sell Levi's jeans? The levi's own shop only ships to US.
From what i know Levi's is a very generic brand in US, but here they cost about 80-100€ (120-150$).

Levis are like $25 in America.

Yeah, so even with all the taxes and shipping, would still be a lot cheaper. But cant seem to find any online stores?

Try ebay. I can't really buy clothes where I'm located in Japan and I'd been itching for a casual blazer. I went to ebay and managed to actually find one (my jacket size is quite big).

Nah don't like eBay. Realized that Amazon also sells clothes, found some there. But it seems the model numbers are different in US, so have to find the correct model...
Strangely though Diesel's jeans were there like 6 times more expensive then Levi's, while here they are about the same price o_O
EDIT: Whats the difference between men's Jeans and young men's jeans?

Levis can get expensive depending on the fit. The 510 skinny fit ones I wear cost around $50 online, and I'm sure they're not the only ones priced a little higher.

I almost destroyed a pair of 511's (slightly wider than 510s apparently) putting them on, same for BDGs at urban outfitters. Even moved up two sizes, no dice. What aren't people eating these days to be able to walk around in them?

Zara isn't exactly "cool Japanese stuff." It's from Spain.
I think it's hilarious that they have Uniqlo in New York, and it's advertised as this fashionable place where you can get awesome clothes. In Japan, it's like Old Navy -- if you can't afford real fashion, you go there.
Not that I'm dissing anybody who can't afford real fashion. I'm one of them...:P
Kyletherealninja

Yeah I knew Zara wasn't from Japan but I'd never happened to see on of their stores in Atlanta (though I know they're got them somewhere) so I included that.
Uniqlo is really more like H&M than Old Navy.
Aki, I used to wear 511s but on me they looked like relaxed jeans on most people. The 510s are skintight on some guys but just right on me - not too tight, not too loose. I'm 6'3"/192cm and 165lbs/74.5kg, so the fact that i wear such a long leg size (32x34) may mean that they're a bit wider as well. I find them to be incredibly comfortable. I'm surprised the 511s are too tight on you, you look pretty skinny to me. Maybe the shorter-legged ones are tighter.

wushu thighs I guess, though they're not that big. being shorter for height does indeed affect leg width though, as stature doesn't change a great deal in relation to height. I only have one 'skinny' pair from kr3w that fit like a glove and still let me kick overhanging tree branches, but I found it at an exchange shop, so any other models of the brand would still be hard to judge without trying them on in person.

I slowly been adding more "stylish" things to my wardrobe, buying a new item a week and throwing something old away.
From skater to..whatever now haha.

Still, I like wearing a tshirt and baggy pants from time to time.

A new item a week?
Damn...I kind of miss being gainfully employed and not tens of thousands of dollars in debt from school anymore. I'll be lucky if I can afford to buy a new thing per semester.
:P
If you're going to get rid of the old stuff, don't throw it away. Give it to Goodwill or donate it to a charity or something.

Continuation of me and Roxie's discussion on the relationship thread since it had nothing to do with relationships (way to moderate gosh).
Who wants to help me find a decent peacoat that's not too expensive so I can be Edward Cullen for Halloween? =D
Roxie
10-26-2009, 02:19 AM
You're probably best off going to a thrift store/consignment shop/good will of some sort. The cheapest Edward Cullen gray pea coat I could find was $60

Where was it from out of curiousity? That's not a bad price cause I'd probably where it normally anyway

So I pulled the trigger on these babies today:
http://www.tobi.com/product/7077-nudie-jeans-thin-finn-skinny-jeans-in-o-dry-ecru-denim-skinny?color_id=8203#ref=plroll
Nudie Thin Finn skinny jeans, raw denim 30x34. My Aussie friends here in Japan introduced me to Nudie, really amazing quality jeans, though you certainly pay for it. I used a 30% discount code to get them for just $125, which is a pretty killer deal.

One of the nice things about working at Gap is getting 50% discount. This allowed me to stock up on long-sleeve tees and plaid shirts (both of which I desperately needed) without dropping a ton of cash. And an overdyed black coated denim jacket which is some great medium-weight outerwear.
Gap's denim isn't that great and will definitely not be replacing either pair of my Nudies, but for basic stuff they aren't bad. Surprisingly, everything seems to fit my tall skinny frame rather well. Right now I want to pick up some Red Wing boots but it's too much cash at the moment. I do need some new sneakers though since my precious 'paint by numbers' Vans shoes have finally worn out.
