Neon Pink Shoehorn

It used to be that if you smothered a grenade, you'd get the Medal of Honor.
Sgt. Peralta, however, was shot in the face before he smothered a grenade. The Navy and Marine Corps recommended that he be awarded it posthumously. But Defense secretary Robert Gates chose not to recommend him, because his headshot was lethal, and he could not have possibly conciously covered the grenade. Instead, his family is awarded the lesser Navy Cross.
What bothers me is that his citation for the Navy Cross reads as though he did do it on purpose. To me, it seems like a farce. If he did do it on purpose, as his comrades say, then he should receive it. If he didn't, why award him anything?
rabble, rabble.
