I'm not sure if anyone will post in here because I'm not sure if anyone watches American football. But I thought I'd make it just in case anyone wants to talk about the NFL...since I'm a huge NFL fan.

I'm so happy my 49ers defeated the Seahawks after a wild, wild game that almost gave me a heart attack.

The Pack demolished the Lions 48 to 25 for a 2-0 start to the season. Aaron Rodgers is showing the hacks at espn that, yes he can give the packers what they need in the QB slot.

Amen to that!

After the Favre debacle, I was happy to see him go. He really drug his name through the mud with that, and I am celbrating EVERY week that the Pack win, and the Jets lose! Even though a High School friend of mine plays for the Jets. I gotta go for the Green and Gold!

I'm glad Brady is out for a while.

I'm upset that everyone is still sucking on his cock.

"Castle is good, but he's no Tom Brady" "I don't know how the Patriots are going to fare this early in the season without Tom Brady as QB" "The Patriots still did good this game, despite a lack of Brady. Hopefully Castle can carry this until we're through our rough patch."

Fuck. I like the Patriots, but jesus A christ.

Cassel was even limping in this last game after a hit.

Colts came back and took out Minnesota...WTF? That whole game I was in sigh mode and after that Chicago loss, it was a real surprise. This tells me a lot about our veteran Center. With him there, it was pretty solid on the line (as far as the Colts go). Now, we got a rookie doing it (Saturday is injured) and they bust right on through. God speed, Saturday. There are other factors (they look really rusty); the protection on the line buys the Colts time to make a decision.

Mmm, but at least it's not Brady! And I keep typing his name as "Castle" D: I think that the pronunciation is just ingrained into me so I keep thinking... yeah.

Hopefully they find somebody who is better than Brady - but only slightly so, because then they'd just go overboard with him too. I'd rather have a team of players, instead of "Brady and the other Patriots."

pshhh I'd rather not have a team of lovable losers, or mediocrity. The team right now is really good and Cassel is lucky to be able to manage games instead of having to take chances on every drive.

I'm glad Cassel is getting a chance, and I hope he does amazing, but thats just because I wanna trade him and get good compensation (maybe a second rounder if he does good).

But why all the Brady hate? I mean he went from a nobody as a sixth rounder (who had a good college career for a sixth rounder) who only got to play because not only did Bledsoe get injured in 2001 but on one of the next few plays the back up got hurt too, Brady was only the third string QuarterBack. Now after a lot of hard work and 6 good years with NO weapons around him he gets a great receiver and a great slot guy and he breaks the most sacred of the Single season QB records. Not to mention every time he gets interviewed and the reporter tries to say how he is the best QB in the league he almost always replies that he was only a sixth round pick.

Then look at his personal life. He has a supermodel girlfriend (who's not my type but its worth pointing out) and he's almost always close to the top in those stupid sexiest men polls in those magazines.

The real reason to like Brady though is not because he's a great athlete (which he is), but from everything I hear and see, he is a genuinely nice guy, which is the only thing keeping me from hating Payton Manning because its hard to hate someone who is nice, but its easy to hate a jerk (like mike vick, or even his brother marcus who's a jackass).

tl:dr
Brady is awesome shut up :frypan:

I heard he was going to draft another Wide Receiver... Lol I don't know he wasn't fired sooner, he kept trying to improve the offense with receivers but they had no one to throw the ball and no line. Plus the defense is horrible. I've never seen a gm able to hold onto his job as long as Millen did.

Damn New Orleans. This was a chance for the 49ers to make a statement and they fell flat on their face. Our right tackle was getting thrown around like a little ho the entire game. It was pathetic. Our quarterback was sacked like seven times. And our defense couldn't stop the run and couldn't get pressure on Drew Brees who in effect was able to torch the secondary. Just a terrible day. Oh well, I'm optimistic next week we can defeat a New England team at home without Tom Brady who got spanked by Miami. But of course that all depends on the 49ers ability to protect the quarterback, stop the run, and pressure Matt Cassel.

Fuck yeah for the jags. Our running game was a bit lack luster, matter of fact the whole game offense was pretty lack luster until about the 5 minutes. Garrad was able to string up alot of shit, especially to Matt jones who had a great day with such small corners. Overtime was a diffrent story, our running game kicked ass. All the Jones were fucking beast. MJD was a great run game. Greg Jones was the nigga today with his catch and run to get us into FG range. His run after the hit was godly, he got like 15 yard with the entire texans defense on his back.

Schuabb had a good game too, but fuck him.

People are saying the raiders shouldn't be playing that well and it's lucky they made it competitive. I don't care if they are playing above there level you don't blow two HUGE 4th quarter leads. At least Jamarcus Russell is improving and there looks like they will be back in contention soon, unless Al Davis fucks shit up.

Yeah they're 4-0 for the first time since 1992. But...I still want to seem them face a really good team before I crown them. Oakland, St.Louis, and injury plagued Seattle, and and underachieving Jaguars team don't really cut it for me. I think they can beat Arizona next week, and then they have a bye. After that it's a home game against the Chargers. If they can beat San Diego, then I think they're for real. Teams that usually start 4-0 though usually have a really good season.

Black fist
09-30-2008, 11:54 PM
I feel the Bills got lucky against the jag because we were missing four members of our line. The jags are a run heavy team, they're built to run. David Garrad is a big beastly quarter back who can run, Greg Jones is a great runner and blocker, Fred taylor is a great runner, and MJD is a fucking god. He can Run, Catch, and block all the while he can't even look over his line.

Mike Nolan I think needs to be relieved of his head coaching status by the bye week if things don't start working out. We should have beaten New England today, but instead we lost. It's worse than not having a talent roster, because we have one. It's just seems like the coaching staff doesn't know how utilize it's players.

Seriously, rushing three linemen against New England on a 3rd and 20 while playing prevent from the 49ers 40 when all they needed to do is get back into field goal range? Of course Cassel then checks it down and gets the Patriots back into field goal range and their kicker seals the deal.

I know I'm not a head coach, but I still have common sense as a fan.

Even though the 49ers didn't make the playoffs, I'm happy the direction this team is going in. We're 5-4 under Mike Singletary who has done one hell of a job as an intern head coach. Being in the NFC West, I believe we're only a few pieces away from competing for the division crown.

Heres to hoping the Patriots franchise Cassel and get a first rounder for him. Or do some crazy Scott Pioli-an batshit insane type shit to help better the team. (Yes I just made Scott Pioli into an adjective):watson:

Well it rarely happens. I think it's only second time it's ever happened. Just bad luck. The NFL was so wide open this year and there were a lot of ball clubs that made the playoffs with double-digit wins. Arizona was the only team that didn't I believe. Then you had a bunch of 9-7/8-8 teams that didn't get in.

Bittersweet...Chargers won, so for hometown, that's good. However, the Colts Offense (for once) was the big let down. It didn't help with the massive penalties (both deserved AND undeserved). *

Also, we need faster returners...Next year, I hope they resolve this.

haterllnation
01-04-2009, 06:22 AM
Yeah, I heard that and thought the person that told me was joking. My response was "The Cards...really?" I just didn't see that happening.

As for the Colts...some of those calls were BS. Saturday FELL and that was "Tripping." *shakes head* There is more, but nothing anyone can do about it now and no point in complaining. Also, in OT, DEF made some bad plays and that nailed the final nail. It happens. Then again, seeing their season, it's sort of a big deal they made it that far, IMO. The Chargers ran all around the Colts and dodged tackles (that some of the DEF seemed to pass the buck on). Terrible.

Now, I root my home team ahead and hope the draft has something good for the Colts next year.

Edit: Also, the run game kind of wasn't there, so that also didn't help and the Offense didn't capitalize on the turnovers that the Defense won them (big mistake).

I turned the game off when the Cardinals scored that touchdown making it 23-20. Figured it was over for the Steelers with how the Cards were playing. Came back just in time to see the replay of the game winning touchdown for Pittsburgh.

I felt bad for Fitzgerald. He brought it back and at the end he's like "No, no, no...". I would have been pissed. There was too much time with it being 23-20. Also, they had a chance to get down field for at least a FG. They had better plans though.

I didn't watch...who won?

More importantly...were there any good commercials?

Read up a few posts. There were a few...and a few 3-D commercials. I had my glasses, too.

Whoops. Missed that post. 3D commericals? I didn't hear anything about that...trippy...

Yeah, it was right before the half-time show. It was for the movie "Monsters Vs. Aliens." Then, there were a few extra commercials that were also in 3-D. Around here, they were giving away the glasses at grocery stores.

Not the worst Super Bowl I've seen, but not the greatest. Seems like it took forever for the actual contest to get started. I can't stand how the event has all of these musical performances and all of these commercials. Adds like an extra hour and a half to the game.

I had a nice buzz by the end of the game, right when it actually started getting interesting. Sadly at one point in the game I stuck around for the commercials just to leave and get beer when they were over.

I hate when one play is the difference in the game, especially when it happens at halftime.:bored:

The only commercials that really caught my eye were the ones for the live action GI Joe movie and Star Trek. Other then that, there were just way too many of them.

The whole super bowl commercial thing is really counter-intuitive for me. I spend my life ignoring commercials, only to try to pay attention to them for this one day of the year. I found myself walking to the fridge, or changing channels, several times during the commercials out of habit alone.

The game was good though. I felt bad for the Cardinals, they were pretty dang close. That pick-six to close the first half was pretty much the difference in the game.

Indeed. Though I've been pretty lucky the past several years with one of my teams (Pats since I was born in MA, Colts since I was raised in IN) usually in the bowl, this year I wasn't expecting to be too excited about the game. It ended up being really close though, with some great plays like the one you mentioned.

You're a Colts and Patriots fan? Wow that's like me being a 49ers and Cowboys fan. No way.

Haha, yeah, it's a bit odd, and I definitely get a lot of shit around here for being a Pats fan, but I at least have an excuse for liking both of them.

The Cardinals got screwed by the refs in that game imo. Santonio Holmes celebration would have been a penalty and a fine but they didn't throw a flag? Also on the Harrison pick six there was a blatant block in the back that wasn't called.

Yeah, that personal foul ruined his 100 yrd. run (even if he was pissed at being held or getting a block he didn't like) because they will show that, then, show his personal foul. Though, in his defense, you try to go for a low shot, expect some retaliation.

IMO, celebrations are exciting. As long as it stays in the end zone and is right after, it should be okay (C. "Ocho Cinco" Johnson is an example of an excessive celebration). Some of the rules the NFL has are kind of lame.

Yeah, I'm not for the celebration penalty either but if your going to enforce it and then in the biggest stage not call it what message does that send? Also the Kurt Warner fumble looked like he had possession throwing it, I'm not really a fan of either team but it seems like its been 2 super bowls the refs had helped Pitt win.

Disagree. It wasn't a block in the back. Lamar Woodley clearly sprinted right into Tim Hightower's shoulder:

If Hightower couldn't see Woodley coming then I could see your point.

There were other things int he game that should have been called though. Such as the celebration on Santonio Holmes touchdown and the final play of the game which apparently wasn't even reviewed. It looked clear that Warner's arm was going forward. It was even more obvious that the previous play in the game when it happened.

If it was a blowout contest then I could see them not enforcing the rules as much maybe. Or rather, getting away with it. But the Cardinals could have gotten 15 more yards on their drive and more time on the clock to toss a hail mary up to Larry Fitzgerald or something. And he's the best wide receiver in the league to make that last resort catch. He's done it before.
