the big eye thing is in China too...at an even bigger scale, proabably.
I'm a pretty big ayumi fan but finding out she had several jobs to make her eyes bigger nocks her down a few notch's.

I actually have no idea what Ayumi Hamasaki looks like as I have never seen her picture but if she looks anything like Azreal's discription that's probabally a good thing.

I don't respect plastic surgery, I just don't. I used to think Mastushima Nanako was pretty cute, but I'm fairly certain she's had surgery, and I just don't feel that way anymore. Call it personal personal preference or whatever.
And I don't really like Ayu's music either. Much of it sounds the same to me.

I'm hapa, so I have big, somewhat Asian looking eyes, but even my "as white as the come" dad's eyes aren't that huge.

I'm not a fan of Ayumi, I don't like most J-rockers or J-pop singers, either. And by the Madonna vibe, I was referring to the Kabbalah/Swept Away-era Madonna, who is keep coming back in a different incarnations, each more annoying than the last. Madonna in the 80's is a different story, but so was Jacko.

I guess you can say Americans are obsessed about having perfect teeth as much as Japanese want big eyes. In America, it seems everyone has or had braces once in their life. Not in Japan though... (Not that every Japanese has/had eye surgery once in their life ^^;)

yea true I see a lot of Japanese ppl with bad dental features. A lot of the idols from Hello! Project have horrible teeth. But I guess in Japan that's not really an issue is it?

Isn't it funny how in the west we see it as slanted eyes versus round eyes but in Asia it's small eyes versus big eyes?
Of course the reason their perceptions differ is because they can't see straight out of those slanted eyes....I'm kidding. Please don't call me racist.

Back to the eye thing though... I noticed Indians (from India) have big eyes. And because they are so deeply embedded into their eyesocket, it makes their eyes look big. I think that's the kind Japanese are looking for.
Personally, I want eyes like those.. because of parental pressure...>.> And my parents aren't even Japanese...!

That's because Indians, as well as Middle Easterners, are a part of the Caucasian race too. So that's why it's possible (but not easy) to find Indians or Middle Easterners with light skin and/or light eyes.
Back to Ayumi, people said that her music is no different from the bubblegum pop that the music industry now tries to stuff in our faces. How? I think that she is more creative than that.......
And yes Marie, she definitely does have a "I want to be white" complex.
Kobun, she is like Madonna in the way that she changes her style every time.?...
I'm just surprised that she used to look as Asian as everyone else.

Plastic surgery is cheap. VERY cheap, particularly in Korea. It's cheap enough and common place enough that you get group rates. I'm not even kidding. There's a misconception that plastic surgery is timeconsuming, technical, and expensive. For the majority, it is none of those 3.
Actually, for relatively simple procedures, most don't require any more than a simple cut. These are also the most common of the procedures, which would line up well with a regular set of braces. Those entire face altering surgeries would be like getting gold crowns for every single tooth you have. You'd end up with something so incredibly fake, yet morbidly intriguing.

According to my family(I'm korean),this is actually quite popular/common in Korea, though nothing like what that Japanese pop singer did. It's just a little incision on your eye lid that makes your eyes look a tiny bit bigger, it's nothing drastic, and looks quite natural. I dunno if it's necesary, I didn't even notice it until I was told such a surgery existed.

I'm in the minority, but I like the way Hamasaki looks. I think she's pretty hot for J-pop.
Although you have to be careful in the sack, or POOOMMPH, out they come!
And the eye surgery is outpatient, costs maybe 50K yen (probably less). My friend the dentist charges a retainer of 600K yen for fixing the banana-bunch teeth, charging more when they're really bad...
