Classical battle you choose your side and reason for defending it. I am just here for data collecting :D

Depends on which kind of dog. I'd say a German Sheppard, Golden Retrievers or one of them very cool looking Huskies own cats any day. Whilst cats own ugly-like-shit dogs like Rottwheilers, Bulldogs and Chihauha's.

Good lord! I have to choose? I have both cats and dogs! My Husky and my Shiba Inu are really cool dogs, but I love my cat!
I have horses. Can I choose them? Horses are cool and I've seen them pwn both dogs and cats!
I was one of those Alaskan huskies, they're beautiful dogs.
On the other hand, I had a pretty cool cat (in colour and attitude) that died. In fact, all the cats I've ever owned have died.
The first cat in my life died of a mixture of throat cancer and old age and the next one got hit by something, or someone hit it with something (it was bleeding profusely from the jaw). That cat had a litter and we kept one. Then she had a litter and we kept two from that. Of the two we kept, one of them went feral along with its mother (the daughter of the cat that got hit in the jaw) so we had to let it go. The other one - the one with the cool colour and attitude - died of some weird disease that I've never got clarification of.
And THAT boys and girls is why we haven't owned a cat for a couple of years now. I really want another cat but I'm really worried it'll die on us.
So at this point I'll have to say dogs. That and their goofy who-gives-a-shit attitude makes me laugh.

i'm really very partial to little furry animals, but i'll lean abit more towards dogs this time.

I have a *REALLY* goofy Blue Heeler (Australian sheepdog). I don't think he's dumb, precisely, but I think he lacks depth perception. Every time someone goes outside he runs into their legs, heh.
He's also not very well trained, he'll have a go at ANY dog.

mmmm, my one pisses and craps all over the place like nobody's business
but he's still lovable. has a gene defect in his hind legs where the thigh bone isn't in its socket, but meh, the op will come later.
Oh, and he's like the biggest coward i've ever seen. make some loud noises and you'll see a brown blur headed for the bottom of the nearest chair.
you're lucky he's only going after dogs, mine go after legs

You're lucky, my dogs spew up all ove rhte verandah, they don't even have the decency to go out into the yard and do it.
Uhh, check that. Better we find it and be able to clean it up without stepping it than walking out in the yard shoeless and stepping it it. :D

Heh, getting in from my frount door when i reach home every night is like walking into a minefield. i have a patterned marbled floor so i can't see the tell-tale wet spots. Though a log sitting in the middle of the livintg room is pretty obvious. :p

Cats all the way. I have three dogs, two being lil' chihuahuas and one being a mastif/rottie, but I love my cat. I named her, I raised her, and she loves me so much. She's one of those types that rolls over every time she sees me so I can pet her.
I love my lil' Athena.

Death to the ankle biters!
I may have spelled it wrong but that matters not to me!
Myrsilus

... not sure what that meant, but yeah she does bite my ankles. She'll swat at them then start gnawing. It's cute, though.
Iekleane
08-14-2005, 08:28 PM
I was talking about the dogs.... Ankle biters are the small little dogs that can only reach your ankles.
Myrsilus
08-14-2005, 08:33 PM
If that is the case, I don't see how cats are any different. Unless you own some sort of wild cat. Don't do it people.
But my lil' dogs are just fine. They don't know when to shut up, though. All of them are like that.

I hate those cats. That's why you have to raise them with lots of love. And peace. Love and peace.
Iekleane
08-14-2005, 08:44 PM
We did raise her with love and peace. But she was very demanding so she would lay on top of you and wait to be petted and to make sure she got her fill if you moved she would dig her claws in.
Myrsilus
08-14-2005, 08:49 PM
I take it you didn't remove the claws on the front paws, did you? Leaving them can create problems. They mangle your furniture and rend your flesh usunder. I have a large scar on my thigh where my old cat hooked a claw into me while I was lifting his 25lb ass from behind a washing machine and then just tore down on me.
Iekleane
08-14-2005, 08:54 PM
No because my cat was an outside cat removing the claws would make it harder for it to defend itself plus it just seems really cruel.
Myrsilus
08-14-2005, 08:58 PM
If it was an outside cat, I can understand why you didn't remove them. And trust me, there are worse things you can do to an animal. Removing claws on an inside animal really does not hinder their lifestyle, it just makes it easier for them to enjoy playing.
One example of cruelty to animals, I think, is removing a part of a dog's vocal chords to make them lose the ability to bark. Unlike claws, a bark does not hurt anyone.
Iekleane
08-14-2005, 08:59 PM
I never worried about dogs barking if my dog wanted attention she would slam her head into something. She wasn't very bright.

Agreed, it is cruel, but if the dog is an obsessive barker (ie OMG SOMETHING MOVED A MILE AWAY) the neighbors might complain, and this will create lots of problems, including getting rid of the dog. >_< I've been through it before, and it's not fun.
I can't answer this question. I love my kitty, but I also love my dogs. I don't really prefer one over the other. I also would never get my kitty declawed. I cut his nails weekly and it helps a LOT.

I deal with many dogs like that, not just mine. I deal with it because I am not so much of an ass to let barking get the best of me. I know if my dog's start barking too much, I make them stop with stare-downs and light spankings. Light, people.
I do not like having to clip my cats' nails, but the ones I've dealt with would tear my face up beyond recognition before I could even get one nail off. My cat is happy enough, so I don't fret over it too much. It just means I can play with her more. I don't want to be afraid of my Athena.

Its all about the cats...
Once you work for that love, it all becomes worthwhile...
Its like having sex with a girl you love other than a random chick at a partay...
Not that ive humped my cat oO
I've had 2 kitties in my lifetime:
Cloud
Gara
Cloud was awesome. I trained him so damn well. On two occasions he brought home a nice little poisonous snake, and once a fairly big scorpion, as presents for us. He looked like tha Yamamaya cat from Azumanga Daioh (the brown one) and had the same expression of not being arsed, not showing fear or anyhing like that. I dont know what happened to him, but i think he wandered a bit too far and got lost...
Gara is my most recent kitty and the cutest out of the two. Im telling you this kitty is vicious! If you have a bug pissing you off, seriously, just put her face up to it as so for her to acknowledge its existence, and she will CLIMB the fricken wall for it. I once was going away for a long while and i would miss her badly. And she did the cutests thingy ever. She hopped onto my backpack and fell asleep. Craziest kitty I've ever had too XD

Big dogs could tear little cats to shreads. But if we're talking about one of those small breeds, the cat might kick its ass. Or something. I vote dogs.

From living with a German Shepard, a Collie, and 4 cats in a tiny house, I'll take the cats. My German Shepard is just annoying as hell, and my Collie is stupid. We call him Eggplant because he's so stupid. My cat does cute things. My dogs just drool and bark at the neighbors. My cats poop in one container that's easy to clean. My dogs shit all over the yard so when we cut the grass we have to go play seek the shit. My dogs drink out of the toilet and get toilet water all over the floor. My cats tentatively drink out of a water bowl. My dogs eat my cats food. My cats eat my dogs food. If the dogs got somethin' to say about that, he gets pwned.

I hate it when people dress their pets up in ridiculous clothing... Like the cat wants to wear a hat.
I admit I've given my chihuahua a shirt... but it was in the winter and she was shivering like a mutha. When I put the shirt on, she'd go to her little spot in the couch and fall asleep, no shivering. But modeling your pets... ugh.

Had a dog once apon a time. F5cker shat everywhere! You couldn't move an inch without stepping on something and that was in the fortnight we kept him. Luckily we were just taking care of him for one of dad's friends.
Cats on the otherhand dont cause so much devastation. They're cleaner, cooler, prettyer and they take the win without breaking a sweat.

My cats own. They're quiet and they know everyone's routine. If I"m awake after 3:30am, my cat will come downstairs and bother me (at first I thought it was coincidence, but after having it happen more than 3 times...).
I've also been attacked by a dog. My shoulder's scarred pretty good. Although, thanks to that dog, I can now pay my way through school...

I have 2 cats and a dog. Cats are so dam easy to take care of. Then once your siblings talk your parents into getting a dog... Its a golden retriever and a lot of taking care of. Cats are SOOO much better in terms of taking care of them. I mean just empty out their litter box once a day and give them some food. You can go out for the day and not have to worry about the dog shitting in the house or having to bring the dog with you everywhere.
