I watch Smallville... Always do. ^_^
About the Season Premier... It wasn't all that great... I mean, they have a knack for bringing something REALLY EXCITING at the end of one season, but in the beginning of the next season they turn it into something minor or find a way to get rid of it. -_- That so annoys me... But yeah... At least it didn't totally suck. ^.-

The scenes involving the two new "visitors" weren't that great, but everything else was good lol.

The only reason why I like Smallville, is because Kristen Kreuk went to my high school. :D
AND most of the First Season was filmed here in Vancouver. :D

I've been watching the show from the beginning and havethe first three seasons on dvd. I haven't picked up season 4 yet. I thought the premiere was very good. I'm looking forward to this season.
My favorite character on the show is Chloe. I really like Allison Mack, though I have this feeling that Chloe is going to be relegated to sidekick duty quite a bit this season, sort of like Pete Ross was after he learned Clark's secret.

I thought it was a pretty good episode overall. Still can't stand the Clark/Lana scenes, but the appearance of Brainiac at the very end of the episode more than made up for it.

but I dont have the money! :(
I love that they use so many Buffy ppl on smallville.
The black evil guy and "spike" at the end..aka james marsters
I used to be a HUGE Buffy fan

Buffy and Angel were great fun. I watched both shows on dvd by borrowing them from a friend who owned them. I did the same thing with Babylon 5.
If you like Joss Whedon's shows, have you checked out the Firefly dvd set? That is a very cool show and there is a movie out now called Serenity which is a continuation of the show. I'm going to see it next weekend.

I havent seen firefly yet
May tho
I like smallville and buffy mainly cuz its like "superhero" type stuff
But I still think Id enjoy his other shows too
does anyone else find it weird that Lois Lane is not a regular on the show?
I didnt mind her being there..but now shes a reg.
The whole "glasses hiding my identity thing" wont really work if she sees him all the time
But the show is already alot different from the comic or any movies.
OH!
Are any of you looking forward to the superman returns movie?
Im not sure if I like the look of the new 'clark'

I remember watching this horrible show once... There was this really cool guy, who had a sniper-rifle with a cryptonite bullet. He fires the gun at Superman, who has his back turned. Fortunately, Superman hears the bullet before it hits him, and ducks. Anyway, seeing how I've been in the army, I know that bullets usually travel several times the speed of sound. Thus, once you hear the bang from the gun, the bullet will have already hit you. This of course means that Superman could not have heard the bullet, and didn't duck. Superman is dead in my book.

maybe his super hearing is based on radio waves or something similar and travels faster than the speed of sound

Well if you are talking about smallville..
I thought he shot him with a regular bullet.. and he didnt dodge it.. it bounced off him
But later on in the show the kryptonite bullet HIT him in the hand-straight through his hand and into his body.. Cuz he didnt try to dodge it
Unless theres ANOTHER episode or ..part of THAT episode that Im missing..
I dunno. (There prolly is another episode Im not as die hard as other ppl)
My bf is in the military too .. I never heard that bullets travel faster than sound ..weird!!
Maybe he didnt 'hear' it. I dunno.. Or maybe he heard the dude breathing? or crouching down. Its superman. *lol*
Anytime normal superman -not just on smallville is shot at with anything or saves ppl in slow mo- hes moving faster than anyone else..
Its a show and doesnt really have to make sense right?
Im mean.. Hes a freakin alien!

Yeah... As Katiekoneko said... I believe the only episode in which someone was using Kryptonite bullets the dude who shot the bullet ended up hitting clark (Was it through the hand or the shoulder? Or both?) and clark ended up bloody and unconcious. So yeah...
But as you said... Bullets do travel a LOT faster than sound and I remember him hearing the gunshot and turning around, but not being able to dodge it in time... Which if you're abiding by the laws of physics makes no sense... But if a story has enough lenience to let someone come from another planet and have super human powers... Then I'm sure they're allowed to bend the rules of physics sometimes... (I mean, if you're in a classroom not moving at all, then suddenly you're going faster than sound, then I believe the air that suddenly got pushed out of the way would have some effect on the room, other than a little WHOOSH sound =P).
@Shylilsweety: Yes, there are new episodes every Thursday, and the first episode of this season was last Thursday.
-------------
Anyway... I just hope the show isn't as predictable as it seems to be... Like when Lex heard the two people from Krypton say "Kal-El wouldn't bleed" (Is that how you spell his name? =P)... Is he going to hit Clark now, and since Clark doesn't have his powers he's going to bleed... And Lex will then give up on thinking he's Kal-El? The show seems to be good at doing annoying things like that. =P

I am foaming at the mouth. Listen to me, please. None of you, NO ONE, no human in the world understand how much i love Superman, oh shit, i actually cum when I think of what a God he is. SHHHIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
Smalleville is sort of an amalgamation of pre-crisis and post-crisis Superman (eg: lex and kal met up before metro in pre, while both of kal's folks survived in post), so it really isn't a completly new thing, except that meteor rock thing, thats bogus, AND the fact that so many fucking people new he had powers. thats bogus too. sure, perry white and lois and them all met up, but even then they didnt know his name or w/e, that sprt of ruined it for me. shit, tom welling is hot, as is kreuk, of course (oh god), but the SEXIEST creature alive, imo, EVER, is LEX LUTHOR. FUCK, this incarnation of Lex (Michael Rosenbaum's) is by FAAAAAAAAAAR the best. Think, in the original movies, he was a fucking dork, he got caught, he wasn't even threatening, he was just a fucking loser guy. In Lois and Clark...let's PLEASE not go there, and in the old ones, who the fuck even remembers? He was fat, i know that. And old, too. Ewww, bad combo for supervillain.
I love how in the series premier he goes to lana when she tells him about the aliens and the spaceship "where was it" "Flander's Field, where the poppies grow (or whateverthefuck)", and he goes "after trauma, you see thing, (and all that shit)."
SOOO GODLY.
Seriously my fav character is Lex, hands down. Until Clark re-becomes Kal-El (and therefore Superman), then it's obviously him.
Interesting sidenote. Obviously, kal-El is is REAL identity, and then he layers that with Clarke Joseph Kent, and then he covers that up with SUperman, which in turn leasds him to Kal-El. Interesting, if you look at it in terms of psychology.
Also, Research Max Tegmark's work on multiverses.
Awesome stuff.
On ANOTHER tangent, I am slowly spiralling down into a quagire of semi-coherent ramblings and random diatribe directed at no one in particular, yet find myself enraged when my comments elicit no response.

I totally agree. Michael Rosenbaum makes an awesome Lex. =D Although I had to say that I loved the character Jensen Ackles played (Jason Tigue[sp]). Which makes me have to ask...
In all the other supermans and stuff, there wasn't anything about the three stones and the witches getting revenge on sorceress person and whatnot was there? I personally thought that was a really interesting part of last season's Smallville, but was wondering if it was a smallville thing, or if anything like that actually happened in any of the superman stuff. (The only superman I ever actually watched was The Adventures of Lois and Clark which I didn't really watch much and don't even remember anymore).

I think it was just the writers who thought the whole witch part up (I could be wrong obviously)
I used to watch lois and clark when I was a younger girl.
I liked it Ha ha ha
It wasnt anything like witches or ANYTHING til AFTER lois knew about clark and they were dating and you knew the show had to end.
There was a wizard of someting that turned into a snake or something.
I was young tho ..so its fuzzy
AND!
I do find Michael Rosenbaum a VERY good lex. I find him goodlooking too.
But if a different way.
There was an interview in rollingstone -when the show first came out- I didnt get to buy it :(
And durring a scene with tom he aked if he would super-f*** him or something..bUT how he worded it was so funny to me.
Anyhoo- my point was that he seemed cool irl too. While kristin and clark in that same interview situation seemed annoyed?
( I only remember reading this breifly while working tho)

What do you mean turn into him? His true identity is Kal-El and that's who he always is... Unless you mean when he turns evil... Like with Red Kryptonite... Which seems to make him worryfree and act on impulse and stuff... Like how green Kryptonite makes him sick... And then there was the black Kryptonite that split him into bad and good or whatever. o.O

10-04-2005, 12:07 AM
well ..actually it does seem like her "TURNS into kal-el" in smallville tho
ATleast in two episodes
He was naked in a feild that start of last season. And he was kal-el. Not clark.
He was like "Im not clark. Im kal-el. Your son is dead martha kent"
or something like that and then flew off to steal something off of lex's plane.
it was the same episode when he flew.
Jor-el TURNED him into kal-el it seemed afew times
Not just when he used the red krypto ring to turn evil and he "called" himself kal- because he didnt want ppl knowing his name

I think they've said that with Smallville they are starting a new "Superman Lore" which will be different from the movies and the comics. So far it hasn't been too bad, it's let them invent some interesting plot twists which they otherwise would not have been able to do.
Only the true comic die-hards would be annoyed.
Btw, I think Lex is cool too ... but Lionel is the man :p

Lex isn't really "evil," no one is, it's just like that guy says, "the villain is the hero of his own story."
Ya, the witches thing is entirely fabricated, a new story, but it helps show how Superman is affected by Magick. There are, what, 3 things that can harm him? Kryptonite, Magic and something else. whatever.
In the pre-crisis, Kal was his real identity, while in the current post-crisis, he finds that the Clark persona is the real one. This reflects society's views, if you haven't noticed, on family, history, reality, etc. it holds that subjective reality is the most important, which is ok, but certainly not what Schuster wanted when he created Superman.
Anyway, it's really awesome how he's finally getting back to his pre-crisis powers (ability to withstand nuclearfusion bombs, fly ftl, move planets, etc). Another aspect i love about Supes is the fact that that he doesn't follow the laws of physics (ie, he can hear a bullet before it exits the barrel, he can see into other galaxies in real-time, etc.), but he has this mental block on his abilities (J'on J'onz taks about this alot), that makes him think he's really not that strong.
In case you haven't noticed, i am i love with the Superman creation. Fucking unbelievable.

Anyone who downs the Superman continuum in this series really just needs to let go. No one really knows this, but when Lois Lane was first introduced into the Superman comics back in the 30s or whatever, she was originally a housemaker. Big shock, right? If they can change Lois' character then, they can change anything they damn well want to. The point is to keep people watching and keep them interested. And this storyline works! Why not?
And what's going to happen to Chloe? A lot of people like her character, and there was even a clash of that personality type when Lois was finally brought in on season 4. I'd hate to see Choe die, but I know they're going to make Lois stick around. It'd be nice if they could work her cousin's character into the comic series somehow.. of course, that probably won't happen. Tch.

If you get the 500 page digest of early Superman stories released last week, originally he didn't get his powers from the yellow sun. It was because the gravity on earth was different than Krypton's. Get into an area with Kryptonian style gravity, poof, no powers. Also, his X-ray vision also doubled as his heat vision. It was mentioned that when he turned it on high the x-rays melted whatever he looked at.

When superman was first published in like a newspaper..
the two guys who made it only got paid like..$700 or something for their idea
and I think just only in the 90's did they get a pention from DC comics or something

From what i've read of the early comics, Superman was not as purely good as he was now. he was like Batman in that he used to rough people up and do whatever it took to do Justice. Nowadays, what with pc and all, he can't do that, because public opinions dictates that "good" means following all the rules, no matter what. Superman was originally one of the first anti-heroes (albeit he still did follow the hero mythos).
Ya, in the first 3,4 panels Lois was a homemaker, lol. Then she suddenly became a reporter, since Superman needed a place tow rok, and she became his love interest. I love the panel where some goons attacke them and he hides behind her, and then asks her to out with him. The look on her face, man.
Imop, Superman should have either green, red or blue eyes. In most incarnations it's blue, but it would be muh more logical if they were red. According to the BirthRight origin, his eyes exude this glow, so that's awesome on so many levels. Imagine trying to read in the dark. You can if you're superman.

yeah nothing like making out to Coldplay eh? At least in Smallville Clark doesn't complain so much about losing his powers, in all the other series and cartoons Clarks a real baby when he loses his powers, probably cause he actually had to listen to Lois all day =P
I like how Lex tries to find out if Clark has powers always at the wrong time, but thats cool, keeps the story going cause then Lex will become "I can't trust you anymore I will dedicate my life to destroying you" Lex.

The guy just bumped into him, Lex didn't do it on purpose I don't believe. Also, Lex was surprised when he saw Clark, he DIDN'T expect him to come.

Well I took it at Lex did bump into him on purpose, and when Lex was surprised it was right after Clark had been hurt by the laser grid thing. Clark would have been on screen for a long time, but it was when he got hurt that he was like "I can't believe this!" So it just made sense to me that he had set it up (especially since Lex punched him to make sure he really did bleed like he say). But I guess it would work if Lex didn't do it all.

Bleh, thinking about it now, Lex did plan it. I forgot all about what Chloe said in the facility, about there being a strange lack of guards. I thought Lex was surprised that Clark broke in, but he was probably surprised that Clark actually got hurt by the laser. Oh well.
Also, Tom Welling was rather "excited" during the scene with Lana at the end!
