So it looks like someone finally did it, they took the popular concept of Guitar Hero only the game actually hooks up to a real guitar. I'm not to thrilled about the idea of the seven string guitar though since I personally play a six string acoustic. Well, I guess now people actually can spend all their time playing video games in order to become a rock paragon.

7 string, ftw. Step it up a notch, man. Now, 8 strings...that's nuts (not considering jazz musicians who roll with 11 string basses and such). I have a Schecter 7 string that I could use this on. Interesting, indeed...
Actually, this should have been out sooner.

It works with tabs...so...I don't like it that much...

Where does it say anything about a 7 string? :S
Man I'm gonna get this just for jokes. Great idea if it works nicely, and there are enough "challenging" songs out there...I'd love to play metal and shred songs on my TV lol!!! I'm curious as to how bends, whammy bars (especially those horsie squeals), pick slides, and other guitar nuisances would work...now that we have more than 5 colored buttons to work with.
On an entirely unrelated note...
haterllnation, great taste in guitars! I recently got a Schecter C-1 Classic, and it's killer (especially for the 400 dollar price tag I paid for!)!!!! What model do you have?

Do you NEED a 7 string guitar for all of the songs? If so, that's retarded. There's not that many bands that use 7 string guitars and the only one that pops to head is God-awful Korn.
Edit: Oh, nevermind. Just watched the video. XD Any guitar. DO WANT.

Ha, it said any guitar! It better not lie.
Ha, thanks. You, too. I have a Schecter A7 Diamond Series (Hunter Green). It retails at I think 899US (I don't have the tag, so I looked it up). Like you, I didn't pay its worth, which is such a steal. I paid, maybe, 430US and that was with a 3 year warranty (seems like a waste). I think it's wicked and haven't had any real issues with it. I may replace the pickups and maybe the knobs (they are beastly), but otherwise, it's awesome (as you know very well).
Joey, there are a ton of other people using 7 and had been before Korn even decided to. They just popularized it through MTV. Vai and Petrucci come to mind as those who have used it, but Jazz, Progressive, (and now Metal), have had their grip on it.

Joey, you are next. :) If you are looking for an 8 string guitarist, check out the band Scale The Summit. They are a young, progressive rock band (who just got signed to Prosthetic Records). It's pretty cool stuff.

Oh nice. I'll get this for sure haha.
7-strings are beastly, and I'm looking to get one. I'll try to save up for a UV777 to match my JEM7VWH but if I get impatient, I might just settle with RG1527 + Blaze pups.
Petrucci's 7 string work on the Glass Prison is beastly!!!
anyways enough guitar junkie talk...
If on PC, it shouldn't be hard for custom songs to pop up...if that happens, it will be an awesome way to practice, and have some fun at the same time!

Looks like a lot of people will pick up bad habits, but as long as they're practicing...it sounds golden.
Dpad: what's so bad about the tab-base? There's very little way other than tablature for a game like this to work while at least teaching you a way of reading music. No, it won't teach you to fluently play w/sheet music (even though that's not very difficult to begin with), but it'll give you a leg-up in writing and recording songs on-paper.
I can't imagine the flood of youtube vids that will come out w/insane players doing the top difficulties. All I can say is that if they don't implement custom songs, they're thinking ass-backwards.
My american strat will be waiting :B

Yeh, they are. It hurts to play at first (well, when not adjusting to it). I've been wanting to try an Ibanez 7 string again. The last time I did was when Korn first released their K7, so it's been a while. Actually, my other guitars are Ibanez, so one would think I would have gone that way...however, Schecter deal. :) Yeh, Petrucci sure has no hard time with the 7 string or any string for that matter. Crazy bastard.
About the customization: I just hope the MPAA doesn't get all butt hurt over it. I mean they shut down the great Power Tab Archive over people posting tabs (that they self-transcribed by ear). Nazis. If they don't, it would be great as a learning tool for beginners and fun for those who want to jam out to their favorite music.
Tabs aren't bad and are helpful for ear training. However, one should never pass up the opportunity to learn music theory. Being in band/marching band is a big help.

Since it's on a PC it won't be too long before someone puts sheet music notation in too. At least, I hope. I really want to learn the guitar, and it'd be nice to have both on screen at once.

Wow, learning to play the guitar just got more awesome.
'Cuz you know, you already have the promise of chicks and drugs.

Guitarists are just now learning what has been common gamer knowledge for years... Take the most boring thing in the world and add a scoring system to it and it becomes jawesome.
Shit, people play games about farming.

Or if you have a real nazi of a classical music instructor. God did my years between 5-12 suck. Made me hate music for roughly half a decade before some guy saved me and warmed me up to some Tom Morello...
Chuckles: Harvest moon doesn't count :p
I'm pretty damn sure that even when this comes out my chord progression will still suck (those barre chords shaped like the 1st fret C major? God damn), but it's one of those things that will reinforce the most important aspect of any instrument; daily repetition.
I find that even if I don't like a particular song, playing it can still be fun as all hell.

I was wondering if I was the only person in the world who had trouble doing those.
Also, Hater Nation :watson: I see. Sounds interastin'. I'll have to check it out sometime :3

Pretty sure that they're one of the harder basic shapes to play. My issue is that my index finger has to roll back to the side a bit further (due to nubby joints) in order to avoid fret-buzz, and that means more stretching for the index finger (and in-turn fudges up the other fingers). At least it's not one of those freakish 7 fret chords that people are talking about...when I googled it, all I got was some God named "Tommy Emmanuel".

Emmanuel is fucking amazing.

And has big hands. A stretch like that is impossible for mine, unless I had the power to unhinge my joints and use latent strength to hold down the strings w/my pinky :(
It's really inspirational to see someone who can play so well that they can make a song just by feeling thinking of the music...a real virtuoso.
