If you could make/change television channels

Noticed a lot of TV threads, and thought this might be a cool idea.

If you could make a tv channel or change an existing one, what would you choose to have on it?

G4
First thing I'd change would be G4. I LOVE AOTS and Ninja Warrior, and just started to warm up to xplay as its going for a more AOTS style show in a couple weeks, but its still horribly, horribly flawed. Before it was just about video games and they ran out of good ideas quick (with like 3-4 different review shows, shows about watching celebrities play video games [W...T....F??? :bang:], etc), but now its gone to having about 2-3 decent (well, I think AOTS is awesome) flagship shows with the rest of the day being filled with crap from Cops to Cheaters and massive reruns of their successful shows. They've tried to improve this by bringing cult hits like Heroes and Lost, but the problem is they're all old episodes, they had good ideas though with having post shows afterwards. But its still not that successful. And worst of all, they run infomercials almost every day to take up space and help pay costs.

They can try to correct this by having more channel exclusive shows. How about having an anime block of relatively new anime thats exclusive to the network (almost like what adult swim has)?

If they're going to have shows from other networks, why not get more series to syndicate on their network? I'd love to have another option for The Simpsons (unlikely), the office, 24, family guy (again, yes), and so on.



An Adult Swim Channel

I love Adult Swim, I loved it since its earliest flagship show of Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
If we can have a boomerang channel, why not have an Adult Swim channel? Have it have some channel exclusives, but keep some Cartoon network exclusive shows as well to keep people watching the original as well (how about some comedy and anime you can only see on the nightly CN version and others for the channel version?)

G4: I would make it TechTV again, since pretty much every single aspect of G4 that wasn't taken from TechTV is god awful. And even most of the stuff they took from TechTV has been twisted and ruined, like AotS.

All versions of MTV: MTV can be for all of their shitfuck reality/hip-hop/teen/list/whateverelse shows, MTV2 goes back to being solid music videos, and all other MTVs die.

VH1: VH1 becomes like MTV, VH1 Classic can stay pretty much the same, except with fewer crappy documentaries and list shows and more 60s/70s rock.

Fuse: Dead.

Comedy Central: Standup Fridays return, fewer awful originals that get cancelled after four episodes. And no more Carlos Mencia, Larry the Cable Guy, or Sarah Silverman. They're not funny and you should feel bad if you think they are.

Cartoon Network and Nick: Banned from making new cartoons until they stop sucking at it. Invader Zim gets finished. Less Teen crap. And no more live action on CN. Especially Out of Jimmy's Head. OoJH will die the most horrible death in the history of broadcasting.

Toonami: The Monday-Friday afternoon block returns, with decent action shows and animu. The late night Friday marathons return, with more adult-oriented action shows and animu. The two Saturday blocks can stay the way they are, though with better shows for the late afternoon one. Maybe add one on late Sunday afternoon as well. Also, the new hosts all die and Moltar and/or the original Tom return as the host of the afternoon blocks. Funny bumps return for the late night blocks, kinda like the old pool bumps, except new material.

Adult Swim: Gets to keep late nights on Monday-Thursday, and there will be less animu shown on those nights, since Toonami gets Fridays back. Keeps the late night Sunday block as well. Less Futurama (already happening, thankfully), Family Guy and American dad reruns. And no more giving shows to every retard who walks through the door. Seriously, Tim & Eric, Xavier, Ol' Dirty Sip? No, I think not. Not ever. Space Ghost returns.

They have a channel called "MTV Hits" now they say is meant for that...but thats just bullshit, MTV2 was made specifically to give us the music videos, now its just crap x2

Word. The golden age had Marvin Sargent with his own show, top gear, robot wars, x-play, and some other not lame stuff.

Now that I think about it, I would love to see an all robot channel. Robot wars, battlebots, terminator movies, battlestar galactica, etc.

TSS(The Screen Savers) > AotS The only thing good about AOTS is the hot British chick that does the Feed. Olivia aint bad either. Changing that show and getting rid of Martin Sargeant's show and Call For Help was a big mistake for the network. The original X-play(GamespotTV?) was the best. I think it was hosted by Adam Sessler and Kate Botello.

I'd like MTV to get rid of the last bits of music they still play and give in to the reality-show jumble they already have. MTV but with no shitty music. Also shows like the OC and its ilk will die in a fire.

I would ban all ringtone commercials and TV shop. Also i would put a restriction on reality TV, so that theres a limit how many % of primetime it can use. Other then that, i would either like to make them show scifi channel here, or create one.

Yeah, I kinda agree. I mainly just watched it because it was like a trainwreck. Watching him sit there, half drunk, with a glazed-over look in his eyes, starring blankly at some Dr. or pseudoscience nut that he had brought on, not understanding a word of what's being said, laughing and/or mocking the guest from time to time. And then ten minutes later, Super Soaker flamethrowers.

On the other hand, his show was still vastly superior to most of what G4 added, so it doesn't really matter.

Make a new one, trust me. The sci-fi channel is to science fiction, horror and fantasy as MTV is to music. It's nothing but old series they picked up from other channels, horrible B and made for TV movies, originals that die faster than Comedy Central originals, wrestling, reality shows, and other assorted crap.

Also, G4 should just air game footage or something during breaks. Hell, get all the cutscenes from the Xenosaga series and air them alone, with maybe footage of a boss battle or two, as a TV show. It would absolutely work. MGS could get the same treatment without problems. I know lots of people like watching other people play games, especially for visually exciting games. Imagine a TV show of just someone playing Shadow of the Colossus, or Indigo Prophecy, or MGS, or other games of that ilk. The good looking, cinematic, dramatic ones.

Well, everyone beat me to the "Should have left TechTv the way it was." Not to just keep commenting on TSS, but really, i loved that show so much. And when i think about it now, i mean, i wasn't THAT amazing or anything, but i freaking loved to watch it. Leo was like a sage, and Patrick broke shit... win.

Martin was only funny while on TSS i think, just because he was so out of place. It was awesome when one time, when Leo, Pat, Morgan, Kevin and everybody were still on the show but where all GONE for some reason or another, and the only person they had to do the show was Martin. LOL.. oh crap, it was so hilarious.

An Adult Swim channel would be pretty sweet too, obviously.

SciFi Channel. Ditch the crappy low-budget movies, and get good original series rather than "miniseries" that are two-hour movies split into halves. Bring back MST3k for new episodes and reruns, get rid of horror and other non-scifi stuff and bring more superhero/comic book style stuff as well as animated shows. Anime too, although I don't personally care for it. Most importantly, listen to the fans and what they want, since fan support is what makes scifi and related genres.

Send WE, Lifetime, and Oxygen straight to hell. Turn MTV, VH1, and the other music channels into actual music channels. Bring Viewsic and Space Shower TV to the 'States so I can watch Japanese indie rock vids and concerts.

Kristen Holt is the only hot one, to me. That is to say, they're all attractive, but she's the only one who, if I saw them on the street and they weren't famous, would draw more than the normal amount of my attention. Layla Kayleigh's picture really only looks good because it's so doctored and she's wearing so much makeup that it may as well be CG, and Morgan's face and strange hair have always bothered me. She's not really ugly, she's just kinda different looking and it's not really my thing.

That said, based on the way they speak and act on TV, Morgan is probably the only one I could stand to be around. I hate British accents and the other two seem more ditzy, especially Kristen Holt. Hearing her do her lines is also as painful as listening to Carmen Electra do lines.

I agree about making Adult Swim it's own entity but it would need a lot of content for it to work.

That new reality station that just came out. Destoy, but only if that means to take out all other reality shows.

Comedy Central I liked back in the mid 90s to about 2003. I always enjoyed the stand ups. South Park can die, serious. It's coasting on fumes. Replace it with Strangers With Candy just to piss everyone off. Oh, and don't put that watermelon smasher on late night anymore or the punishment is death by explosion. I think Dave can stay, Carlos "Menstealia" can go away.

I'd also make a porn channel just for those who like watching porn in those "it's almost perfect reception, OH DAMN, squigglies again" types. It can be a sport, if you fancy, on ESPN8: the ocho.
