Comic fans, discuss.
This seems to be the most HATED fandom decision I've seen in years.
Will this cost Joe Q his job?

You're referring, of course, to the One More Day storyline that just concluded. I haven't read the last issue yet, but I pretty much know what happens. The stories that follow could be pretty good, just as with any reboot. Maybe they'll treat him better this time.

Havent read it yet, but I know what youre talking about (God damn Civil War got me reading this shit again).
Really stupid move. From what I read in wikipedia or IGN or something, they regretted the wedding and the baby a few years back forever, but it worked.
Then again, its just a comic. When they pull stupid shit like this, half the time 6 months later they find some magic way of reversing it.
I was holding out the smallest hope that instead of going down that road Aunt May would die instead, which would have made it almost worth it to show the pain they had to go through to get there.
But no, im pretty sure they're about to fuck it up

I've always liked Mary Jane...the relationship I want to see finally collapse is Reed Richards & Susan. I mean Cyclops n' Jean is finally over, now Pete & MJ, Reed and Susan came close BUT I WANT THAT BRIDGE TO BURN! Try being the Fantastic Four when you're divorced.

*slaps forhead*
Why the hell do some comic authors do this? HEY! How about Gwen Stacy never dies.
What the hell? Why not just make Peter Parker never be Spider-Man.
Ya know the whole series was going just fine the way it was despite the numerous fake death's of Aunt May who only recently just became an important character again (seriously it was reaching the point where you didn't care if she lived or died).
Then this guy actually does this. Why? What was the point? This better be a limited storyline like House of M or else I'm gonna be a very unhappy person.
Actually I blame Joe Q who has never been happy with Spider-Man being married. It seems he's gone through great lengths just to make the man a swinging(literally) single guy. Was there really that much of an uproar to have Spider-Man be single? Even the guy who wrote the storyline wasn't happy with it. Their marriage is also supposed to be gone FOREVER!
I'm sure they can fix "forever" in the marvel universe, but this blows at current standing.

The only way to really make Marvel and Spiderman suck less would for Uncle Ben to reappear and reveal that Peter's father was an amnesiac Bucky Barnes who later went on to father Rick Jones and the Summer boys.

So I just read it.
Now I've only recently started reading this again, and for some reason this one comic seriously pisses me off and makes me feel like cutting that vein off for good.
Seriously, whoever fucking OK'd this book better get canned fast, this is a GIANT "fuck you" to readers.
And further, how does this affect the rest of the marvel universe with the past 20 years continuity now in question? What did Spidey do in the civil war then?
Something tells me that if we're lucky, this is only going to last through the "Brand new day" storyline.
And if it doesnt

Joe Q editor-in-chief ok'd this.
In fact the person who made him write this had some objections with the story and a few yelling matches.
The reason why this happened is because he felt that fans never really related to Peter Parker because he was married. Which leads me to believe he obviously is only thinking about himself and what he likes.

I read wikipedia on this, so i heard about that. It doesnt change the fact the guys a fucking idiot though. The writer didnt take his name off the story due to respect for his boss (which is fucking ridiculous in this case) and he knew it would seriously hurt marvel if he did that.
I dont think he realized that its going to hurt marvel anyway, and so leaving his name on it didnt change shit except he got talked into leaving his name on possibly the worst idea in years.
Seriously, can this editor, and turn things back to how they were using Brand new day. Otherwise, everything is to fucked up to save this anytime soon.

He's done a few "creative" things ever since Marvel declared bankruptcy. Such as, and not limited to:
-Ban on Smoking in comics.
-Ban on footnotes
-Ban on comic book deaths
While, as a buisnessman, he has done great things for the comics and Marvel. Such as reviving a lot of old characters and revamping/creating new ones putting Marvel on the top again. The only problem is that some of his creativity tended to suck.
Except with Iron Man, but I'm not sure if fans like Iron Man being a douchebag.
EDIT: lawl at his wikipedia page
Joseph "Joe" Quesada (born December 1, 1962), colloquially known as The Idiot Who Ruined Spider-Man, is an American comic book editor, writer and artist. He is currently the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics.

QFT: Damn you Civil War...you worked like you were supposed to on me ;;
Okay, OP:
I've thought about it...
A love as strong as their's, as put forth in the comic, means that it simply won't allow itself to be held back to a small piece of the soul...I am willing to bet that as the arc develops, they will reunite together, and everything will go back to how it is supposed to be...with MJ's deal removing his unmasking, to put the secret identity back in place.
The marriage is one of the solidarities in the Marvel universe, and I believe that they won't just shunt it away forever.

There's a real problem when you've retained only a core of unforgiving fans as your readers and new ones don't give a rat's ass. I've never been a fan of gratuitous deaths replacing actual character development.
Publishers thought boys would read comics from age 8 to age 12 and then discover girls. I won't talk as to how pervy fiction from Stan Lieber or Paul Levitz was.

You know what the funny part is? JMS posted on the comicbookresources forums that he didn't like where OMD was going, and that he wanted his name taken from the last two parts, but Quesada persuaded him not to.
Quesada should be credited as the author of OMD, not JMS.

I bring this back up because I assume that once Joe Q gets his head out of his ass he'll realize that chaning over 25 years of history was a BAD idea.
Let me tell you something.
Married Spider-Man was not a BAD Spider-Man. I know it sucks trying to find storytelling in the confindes of a marriage, but thats what you writers are supposed to do.
BE CREATIVE.
There was nothing creative about this at all. It was a quick fix because someone decided to say "Fuck it." I'm bothered about the Mary Jane thing, but not as much as I am from rewriting history. Even if they don't get them back together and fix the history I'll be happier than just putting them back together.
This is SO bad that the #1 Fan website dedicated to anything and everything Spider-Man is going to drop Spider-Man and go after something else http://www.spiderfan.org/rave/2008/0101.html
How fucking bad is that? Not only that, but it made national news and Joe Q just sounds more and more like a dickhead.

Pretty much, Quesada never liked the idea that Spiderman got married. He wants the spiderman he grow up with and this move basically stifled 20+ years of character growth for spiderman.

But damn, some of the crazy ladies in comics are a good reason to stick to your guns.

You're worrying to much
The way I see it the only time I bring up comics is when I'm talking to people who want to talk about comics otherwise I don't bring it up. If people see that I have a collection of comics they see it and then move on, just like anyone else who collects shit.
The actual content of comics has matured too.

Jean had become such a non-character I was glad to see it go. errr did anyone watch that x-men evolution, it put the damn idea of cyclops and rouge(sp? I think I'm spelling red in french). I didn't want to be like a shipper at all but that was more enjoyable than what that cartoon did with jean. so yeah... The White Queen/Emma frost was a good idea. Let's hope they don't start making her absurdly powerful. It's hard to write telepaths in a combat situation without making them overly powerful.
edit: Let me just add that I stopped reading spider man after that weird thing where he was reborn, and civil war. But I took the same approach as others and read it from wikipedia. This seems like a highly reversible decision.
And uhh why don't you guys check out that new Blue Beetle comic. It has that kind of spider man/ plus teen titan feel to it. Maybe it'll ease your souls heh

White Queen >>> Jean Grey per interesting character. Honestly, all jean grey has is the phoenix, white queen is just a female bad ass whose development has been incredible. They never stop reminding you that she was a villian and they show how far shes really come, especially in relationship to the New Xmen.
Plus, screw TK abilities, she can remove/add mental blocks on mutant abilities. Mach 5 Hellion Julian Keller is crazy cool shit.
