Aahhaah my groups plans are so random.

Midday on NYE we meet at a local tea house in this like mafia-esque setting, its really funny infact. Then we move onto gathering the rest of the troops in the surrounding shopping centre. After that we purchase our beverages of choice and get on a train to the city centre (Sydney Aus) and either end up on two parks drinking and awaiting the fire works display, if it gets dull we just walk around the city and finally end up back at the 24 hour tea house recovering and moving home, its a riot i say.

In most places in Australia, working NYE is entirely optional, protected by laws, contracts or unions. You can work NYE if you want (and NYD is also a holiday) but you can damned well expect double time and a half at LEAST!

Only time i ever worked a NYD they paid me about $32USD an hour for the privilege

Well my NYE is over but fuck it was a fun one, i had such a great time, the place we were at was beyond packed but it was well worth it. Met alot of random friends who i havent seen for yonks and damn it was just a great feeling to be there with everyone after my nasty break up, but on that accord i got in with a really hot chick that was a friend of a friend so that made me feel alot better aswell =p

I worked and for some reason it was effing SLOW. We had 120 LESS reservations than last year, but the same number of waiters! So I waited on an effing THREE TABLES, with a grand total of nine individual people, one of whom was a five year old girl who only wanted to eat a potato and drink milk, and another of whom was an infant who shat itself TWICE, and TWICE it's mother changed it's dirty diaper ON THE FLOOR IN THE DINING ROOM. Needless to say, I only made an effing $77 that night, which is effing ridiculous for NEW YEARS EVE at a fine dining restaraunt. Last year I made $250 easy, and actually felt busy the whole time. This year, I wasted my whole night by being at work and just sitting around, sneaking into the bar and watchin the tv in there. I could have stayed at my parent's house for a few more days and partied with my friends on NYE instead of driving home several days early just to work and not make any money. LAME.

I hope you enjoyed my rant.

Well, the family requested to dine privately, and we have several small private dining rooms, so the family of 5 was in a private room. And apparently the mother felt that changing her nastified baby on the ground was preferable to taking the baby to the bathroom. Our bathrooms are NOT equipped with baby changing tables, actually. We very, very rarely have children eat at the restaurant at all. We have a single high chair for the entire restaurant and no booster seats. We discourage people from dining with their children, but it obviously still happens.

But dude? Let me tell you. . .walking into a small private dining room with a bare-butt baby on the floor is quite a shock to the waiter if you're unprepared. I had to work HARD to stifle my gag reflex. I'm surprised the family still ate, because that room STANK!! Ew.
