I have windows XP service pack 2 and I use wireless internet on a desktop PC. I also have my internet "provided" by comcast. Suffice to say, my internet goes out often.

So here's my problem. I only have one preferred network, which is my own called SkyNet. But, when the internet turns off for a second being gay, windows connects to some dumb ass's "linksys" network without a password and won't auto-reconnect to SkyNet even when it becomes available again.

I need to know how to make it so that windows ONLY connects to SkyNet. And even if SkyNet is unavailable it will keep looking for it and not connect to any other network.

I torrent a lot and it pisses me off especially when it disconnects for 10 seconds then connects to the moron unprotected linksys that has 0 bandwith.

It has become self aware...

Edit: Really tho, it should be in Wireless Network Connection Properties (w/ the WZC service). There's should be a list of available and preferred networks... and Advanced options has the auto-connect stuff... (i thinks)

I thought that if you turned off auto connect it wouldn't... automatically connect to ANY wireless network. But I will try that and see if it works. Going to work now so I won't be able to see what will happen.

The auto-connect feature doesn't handle the settings you place upon every connection you have, just the general settings it uses by default so you can still set it to auto-connect to SkyNet when it is available.

Also, you just made me realize what might be happening to my connection. I figured it was just buggy IPv6 protocols on XP SP2, but its probably the stupid zero config auto connecting to one of two random networks that pop up from time to time. Most likely someone using their laptop as an access point... *facepalm*
