Sock Full of Boiled Dimes

My college campus, The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is literally in the middle of some bad neighborhoods and literally a block away from Asher and not too far away from Roosevelt.
You guys don't know these names, but they signify that we live in a pretty crappy area. Now, the University likes to pride itself in its safety and that if you stay on University grounds then nothing will happen. Yet, more and more we've been receiving e-mails from the campus informing us of crimes committed on campus. It's getting so bad right now that there is something happening almost every week.
On Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a student was approached by two men at the east end of the University Plaza parking lot as he was entering his vehicle. The two men indicated they were armed and got into the vehicle. They ordered the victim to drive to a location near the campus and get out of the vehicle. They then drove away in his 2004 tan Nissan Sentra. The first suspect is described as a black male approximately 17-19 years old, 5'4" tall, 140 pounds, light skin, and two gold teeth on top. The other suspect was described as black male, 18-20 years old, about 5'6", 155 lbs., dark skin tone and a thin moustache, wearing a grey hoodie.
On Friday, Oct. 26, at approximately 7:10 p.m., a visitor to the campus was sitting on a bench outside the Fine Arts building when he was approached by three men. The three men made small talk and then asked to see his computer. When the victim got up to leave, he saw what he believed was a knife in the hand of one of the men. One of the other men pushed the victim to the ground and took his computer case. All three suspects then ran away in an easterly direction. The suspects are described as black males in their 20s, wearing dark clothing. One suspect was short, approximately 5-feet-3, and the other two were approximately 6 feet tall.
Not only that but we get these hood people who don't belong on campus parking at the student parking lot. Some are friends of people here and others just don't belong period. We're now getting reports of women getting harassed by these guys if they are sitting outside.
To top it off my building has been having thefts. We have this door in the front of out building where you can only get in by swiping a card. Big problem is that there will be people who will slip in behind a person or have another let someone in. So people get their crap stolen from others who don't belong here.
Now, to make the final thing great, last Friday the campus had an event where students from High School's were touring the campus. I was walking back from class and coming from the street not too far from the campus you could hear, POP! a silence then POP POP POP POP! Then the squealing of tires.
I freaking love this campus.
