Very nice book. FIts me perfectly. A book I can actually read again. Whats your take on the book?
I agree with his perception of time. I have problems with his ideas of probabilty but oh well. His humors amazing and he ends it at a nice note.

First three books of the "trilogy" are great. Last two are kind of mediocre and don't seem to have half the effort of the first three put into them.

I still like the final message of god. I do agree with the 4th and 5th not being the best.

That's because the 4th and 5th were actually written as books I believe. Whereas the original trilogy was written as a radio show and then converted to book format. The story isn't even in the original order that it was first aired in. I think this gave him a lot of time to mess around with it and get it right before he published the final book. The final two books were not given the same sort of consideration.
Or so I would assume. It could just be he ran out of ideas...

i really enjoyed the trillogy in five parts. it was clever and still is. when i first read the last book i was disappointed with the end but as i thought about it i realised that it was as good an ending that could be given. so i find i like it now very much. but the overall concept still has me liking it

I still think the last book was one of the best i've ever read, because it was simply amazing.
However, yes, the whole trilogy was very good.
Restaraunt at the end of the universe was by far the most clever.

You can't beat the first one.
The first one is by far the best.
I'm having trouble reading the third book after a long break of not reading it. I might have to go back and read Resturant again.

The part that always cracks me up is the rain god guy. Tiny, tiny part... but it makes me smile everytime I think of it. If I'm having a bad day, I remember that bit.

ironically I have tried to read the first book twice now, and I just cant get into it. Things keep popping up in my life, and I just never finish it! I enjoyed the movie very much tho.

I did not like the movie. I did like the cow at the resturaunt though, that was sweet. The books I read (the trillogy) was very good.

Read the whole thing 2 or 3 times.
Was very unhappy with a few parts of the movie
Also if you havnt already you should read the Dirk Gently books. there was 3 of them i think by Douglas Adams... very good if you like the HHG
Loved them all. I thought he was pressured into doing the last 2 books, thats why everyone was killed off in the last one.

The movie in itself wasn't bad. It's when you start comparing it to the books. You already make an image in your own mind about people/scenery/events etc. That's why people read books =/. If someone goes against those ideas, you're angry that it's not what you thought.
On it's own, good movie. Strange choice for Ford, good choice for Arthur (keep it English :P), meh for Zaphod.

I always think of movies and books as two seperate entities. they can influence each other but they are different things. I need to read the dirk books though.
