And you're set.

I know what you meen Kokujin.

Before I set the chat to automatically show up everytime I open IRC I was confused as heck (I dont even know how I did it, lol). So to all those people who cant seem to work it I know how you feel.

Someone make a link and then a mod should make this thread a sticky.

This thread made me join the channel and now stuff is happening. Woohoo.

If Loc's link works (nice magic), Perhaps a lock and sticky would be a great idea?

I mean, it got Sardaukar in there and I will testify stuff did happen.

If it can make that happen, it can probably cure AIDS. Lock/Sticky Please!

That is for a web-based chat you can use to get there without downloading anything.

Ah, Pierrot, you could have saved me from installing another software on my mac. Oh, well. Cool, thanks

I just use Mirc just because I can transfer files. Unfortunatly I've found a lot of users here to avoid that. In any case, good linkage.

For the people not being able to download/install/set Mirc or trillian, surf to http://cgiirc.blitzed.org type in your nick, and fill in channel as: #op9. And then you're in! i dont think it's as comfortable as a irc client, but it works! Also nice for in-class secret irc usage';)

hey can we please get a sticky?

zell583
09-26-2005, 03:42 PM
Citizen could you please sticky this thread so that when new people join the forum, they won't have to start a thread asking if/how/where the irc chat is and how they can join it.

koku

Actually, for anyone who can help me get this thing worked out with trillian.. everytime I try to set it up, I get disconnected from the blitzed server. I'm not sure what's going on.

Guys, I'd like to point out that you should ALL REGISTER YOUR NICKS.

Simply type /msg nickserv register YOURPASS YOUREMAIL
then check your email, copy the command that will be there, and paste that to IRC.
Hit enter, and it should say OK, you're registered.

If you want, play around with the nickserv - type /msg nickserv help for more info - but at least it's a registered nick now.

Basically, "Mr X" and I were... playing... with unregistered nicks. I'd like to think that everyone is OK now, but, say, "Mr X" got your nick, then he could with a single command have you auto-kicked from the IRC server.
And other shit.

So please, register your nicks.

Marie

Yeah, someone stole a nick I was going to register. I think I know who did it, they're not going to be happy when I see them again.

Mr X = Jay by the way.

Marie

That's alright, I sent him a pm about it. I'm ignoring him from now on. Only a loser would do something like that, anyway.

I don't think I'll be going to IRC much anymore. It slows down my computer to the point of disconnection when I go into a room.

Sucks...

Marie
10-25-2005, 04:08 AM
It does suck. Maybe we can start up an aim chat sometime.

be Right there...

And as for IRC, believe me, there are WORSE quotes that could occur.

And I'm sure 1 of my names won't be registered (Especially THE_BARTENDER) :D

I can't get in the online chatroom. The one on blitzed. It isn't listed in the pull down menu at the bottom anymore. I can't find it. I'll look again.

Random

I'll drop some info on it here.
The online (CGI IRC) chat is at http://randomskk.net/irc.
The chat server is randomskk.net and the port is 443.
There's a guide to adding this to your mIRC at http://randomskk.net/IRCd/guide
There's a guide to registering your nick so that other people cannot take it at http://randomskk.net/IRCd/guide/reg.txt
If when you join it instantly changesY your nick (and you're registered), type /nickserv login yournick yourpass

If you have any real problems, most people in the channel can probably help you out.

There are no ops, instead a democracy system whereby one bot has been opped, and you can vote for people to be temp. banned or perma banned.

There is no kicking, as it seems pretty much useless - it's like a minor slap on the wrist. It's stupid.

The vote system is very easy to use:
"*vote" gives you help
"*vote is this cool?" would start a vote on "is this cool", which would at the end of 1m show the results. Nothing else would happen.
"*vote random +ban" would start a vote for a 30m ban on random. If it won, random would get banned for 30m and then kicked.
"*vote random +pban" would start a vote for a permaban on random, same as above but not 30m
"*vote random -ban" would vote to unban random
"*vote random -pban" would vote to unpermaban random
To vote:
"*yes" and "*no".
No " in anything, I'm just using them to show what's command.
A full example vote:
<random> *vote someguy +ban
<dembot> vote started (there is a long message)
<random> *yes
<otherperson> *yes
<3rdperson> *no
<4th person> *yes
--=one minute later=--
<dembot> 3 yes, 2 no, someperson is banned
dembot sets ban on someperson
dembot kicks someperson

that's how it would work.
Also, there are memos - like mini emails - availble, these can be sent to registered nicks.
"/memoserv help" for help
"/memoserv send <nick> <memo>" to send a memo
"/memoserv list" to list all the memos you have, shows a number for each one
"/memoserv read <number>" reads the memo for the number you said

If you do need any help, as I've said, ask someone on the channel.

If you have any questions and stuff, you could also ask here.

--- Looking up randomskk.net:443..
--- Unknown host. Maybe you misspelled it?
Is randomskk.net really the full hostname? Not irc.randomskk or anything? mIRC may like to take any shit it can find as a server name and figure out what you mean, but not everyone uses it. (referring to at least the first post and it's link to irc://blitzed/op9, which is not a valid IRC:// link)

What client do you use?
Trillian seems to like things like: randomskk.net::443
And yes, the full hostname is randomskk.net and the port is 443.
